I was on the 5.3.0 console and firmware and when adding a new switch I wanted to set the local on level.  Usually when I write a change I see the green bar appear, but this didn't happen.  It also won't work on any other device.  I am able to hear a beep, and add the device to a scene, but not change its on level.  I updated to 5.3.3 and cleared the Java cache and still the same issue. Is this working differently in V5?  I may not have noticed until now as the lighting program is mature and stable.  Thanks!

Once you set the on level you now need to click the "on level" button to the left of the on level value, it will then write the value to the device

@svetter there's also an issue with the admin console not storing the setting you make it. At least I recall seeing discussion of this before (I believe @MrBill has documented this elsewhere). But as @Techman pointed out you have to click the left of the value for it to take. But if you close admin console and come back to it then it might show 0 (or a value not what you set), but it is indeed set. I think it will show the value you set for the current session you're in the admin console, but the next time you log in it might not show the actual setting if you go looking for it.

However, it will store for what you set it to. It just doesn't seem to display properly when you turn to that setting on a new instance of the admin console.

Hopefully this will be fixed in a future release.

That applies to "Backlight" only

this is absolutely likely the issue.    The UI is NOT intuitive.  Set the Dropdown then press the button to the LEFT of the dropdown.  PS - the "button" looks more like a label for the drpdown than it does a button!

I wish @Michel Kohanim would address this issue with the admin console.  I probably type this instruction more than ANYTHING else.  I often make screenshots to go with it.  Perhaps label the drop down with letters and move the button to the RIGHT of the dropdown and put the letters "Set" as the label for the button.

Or down and dirty... leave the left side alone and add a Set button to the RIGHT of the dropdown that does the same thing as the button on the left-- then usage would be intuitive.

This is starting to match up to what I've seen.  If I close the console and come back in, I see an old value.  If I do a backup of the console and close it will be the new setting.  This is for a scene using the switchlinc.  For the device local setting I will check out what has been said in this thread and check back.  I see the console go busy with a setting change, but when I use the switch the value hasn't been stored to the switch.  The on value, as an example, stays at 100.  Thanks all for your quick reply.  Long haul Insteon user here.  I even recall when Home Depot stocked them!

to be specific:

You must set the dropdown, then press the button to the left to have the change sent to the device.

there is a further bug with the backlight dropdown, it will work to change the setting in the device but don't rely on it's value when you open the device.

Thanks again for your help on this thread.  I've got a house full of devices, but still make the error to click write changes and not the button to the left of the drop down (which looks like a heading at first glance)
