[FileOpen ] Open failed for [/LOG/ERRORA.LOG]

Hi,

While everything seems to be working for the most part, my event viewer is being spammed with this message "[FileOpen    ] Open failed for [/LOG/ERRORA.LOG] (a)" in between all the other messages that look normal. Sometimes a dialog box pops up and includes this message, but the event viewer has more lines of this than anything else combined.

Again, it seems like everything is functioning, AND I was able to make a backup (which I saw in an earlier string that included this message should Not be possible if it is my SD card)

I am on a isy zwave ir/pro about 2 years old with original SD card and I am running 5.0.16B.

Any suggestions on how to "fix" whatever is happing here.

Thanks as always!

@Samedarkclouds, very strange. Was there something you did or changed on the ISY to cause you to look at the event viewer or to get these messages?

Even though you say the firmware is 5.0.16B does your UI match? (Help -> about)

Did you recently change to this firmware? If so why not go up to 5.0.16C? Or even 5.3.4? What controller type is your zwave board? You can find how to figure that out in the wiki or other posts (I don’t have zwave so don’t know that by memory)

while yes, typically it appears that if the SD card was bad or going bad you might not get a good backup, but more posts seem to suggest this error is directly related to SD card failing  although 2 years seems really quick

Do you have any spare SD cards that you could use and try to format and see if the error goes away?

how to format the card: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Replacing/Formatting_an_SD_Card

let us know how it goes

Thank you! Sorry it took me so long to respond.,

At first it was a dialog box that was popping up only occasionally, and that lead me to the event view (I am somewhere just under intermediate with the tech stuff so I don't spend a lot of time there to know what I am looking at) and saw that it was spamming that message anytime it did anything. Also, yes, my UI and firmware match, that you for that tip.

But I think I figured out what was going on between your response and now. So I left my admin console open for a few hours and just let things go, and found that along with the error message stated originally, SOMETIMES there was a Z-WAVE communication error message. After I saw this happen a couple times, and saw that it was the same device, I removed it. That was it, no more error message.

My barely educated theory is that this thing was, for some reason, spamming signal traffic at the isy, and the isy was not in solid contact with the device, and the errors was getting where the isy repeatedly trying to log the spamming messages but continually getting interrupted by more messages and contact losses.

I mean, I dont know, but the removal of that device SEEMS to fixed the issue. So I guess I will just roll with it.

Thanks a lot for your time in thinking about it for me.
