Hi all, I have an ISY994I working fine in my home. I bought another one with a 2413S for my vacation home and for some reason can't seem to see the new 2413S. When I use the diagnostics to see the PLM it says it's not connected. I suspect and hope that I'm doing something wrong and that it's not DOA. I actually brought the 2413S home and tried swapping it with my existing 2413S and I can't control any existing devices. As soon as I plug my old one back in all is fine. FWIW, even when my original one is unplugged or if the new one is plugged in, it says that my existing PLM is connected, hmmm. I'm feeling kind of stupid, what am I missing?

Thanks in advance, Adam

For one be careful with the swapping.  The PLM is not just a modem, it also has memory and a links table.  Confusing your ISY with a PLM with a different address can get you into trouble.

First thing I would suggest is trying a new cable between the PLM and Port A.

Also the ISY only looks for a PLM during the ISY boot process.  Plug the PLM in first and wait 30 seconds, make sure the PLM's light in steady green, then plug in the ISY.

Also if the ISY boots without the PLM attached and doesn't go into Safe mode, it doesn't have the correct firmware.   There are two versions of firmware... "with insteon" and "without Insteon", perhaps the ISY has the without version loaded.

When I swap PLMs it takes almost a full day. Each and every battery operated Insteon device needs to be put into linking mode, one at a time and relinked to the new PLM. It becomes a long process with 12 or 13  MSes and 5 Leak Detectors, one under the dishwasher requiring panel removal each time.

Not an easily swapped piece of equipment for larger systems.

Hi guys, so I don't have any wireless devices connected to this system, it's simply a new ISY994i ZW+. So I followed the power-up sequence that MrBill suggested (thank you!), I'm still getting the following error messages shown below when checking PLM info/status and Restore Modem (PLM). Any other suggestions? Is there anything simple that I was supposed to do in set up that I missed? Is the PLM supposed to just automatically be "seen"?

Thanks again, Adam

Open a ticket by emailing support@universal-devices.com

You've eliminated the possibility that the cable is bad.  The remaining possibility are 1) Bad PLM, 2) Bad ISY, 3) wrong firmware on ISY.

#3 is the best and easiest....

Does Help > About show OADR in the firmware string?

That's the version that doesn't connect to a PLM.  (even tho it says Insteon at the beginning).

without the OADR string should be correct.

Thank you, I'm not the brightest bulb with this stuff! How do I do that?
Find the release announcement thread in the forum. Download the correct image, depending on whether you have a PLM connected or not. In your admin console use the pulldown menu Help and select upgrade manually. Backup when indicated and then OK.

As others have said, just download the correct file... use 5.3.4 since you're setting up a new system.  Don't unzip the file.  just select "manually upgrade" and upload the file the Zip file.  You want the First link the in step 3 of the Install section of the directions.
