PatPend Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 Is there a way to disable the "Cannot communicate with..." pop-up when the java console opens? I have a number of Insteon plug-in modules that are used "seasonally" and when they are not in use, I get numerous pop-ups and have to dismiss each and every one each and every time the console starts. Also, when troubleshooting Zwave I sometimes need to move the ISY (but not the PLM) near an installed module. Without the PLM connected, dozens of pop-ups - one for each of dozens of Insteon modules in the network - have to be dismissed to get to the console. Any help would be appreciated.
GlowingHair Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 @PatPend For the seasonal Insteon modules, disable them then enable them when needed. You may need to plug them back in to disable. The PLM is Insteon only and has nothing to do with z-wave. If it is unplugged from the ISY and/or power source, the popups are normal. Either ignore after dismissing, or for a smaller installation, disable the Insteon modules before disconnecting the PLM. 2
MrBill Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 @PatPend As mentioned, disable the Insteon modules used seasonally, to do that click the name of the device and then right click it and pick disable. Your best bet if you move the ISY to work on a z-wave device without uninstalling it is to take the PLM with you too.
PatPend Posted November 19, 2021 Author Posted November 19, 2021 Thanks. I was able to disable without plugging them in which was cool.

Back on the z-wave topic: if these are new switches just being installed for the first time, make yourself a cable to temporarily wire the switch and plug it in. This way you can bring the switch to the ISY and program it, then install it at the remote location. (cap the red or load wire on the switch). (Photo Credit: @Teken)
PatPend Posted November 22, 2021 Author Posted November 22, 2021 Thanks, I made one. Still wondering what I can make with the other end of the cord lol.
