NewTech Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Spent some time today while watching football and tried to upgrade to version 2.7.8 but I could not even get past the backup procedure. I keep getting an error message that reads, "Could not create the zip file" and "Could not retrieve file /CONF/UDFLPL/.XML". That's my first problem. My second problem is: I seem to have lost the 99i Administrative Console button I had stored on my desktop to access my ISY. But here's the really weird thing: Last week I spent some time placing all of my devices, scenes and links into folders sorted according to the rooms the device is located in. Now that I have had to go back to logging on by opening Internet Explorer then clicking in the favorites on my ISY the folders have disappeared AND there is no longer a new folder icon on the tool bar that would allow me to recreate my folders. Is this something I did or what? I really don't understand where my folders and the new folder icon disappeared to!!! Quote
Sub-Routine Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Hi Mike, Spent some time today while watching football and tried to upgrade to version 2.7.8 but I could not even get past the backup procedure. I keep getting an error message that reads, "Could not create the zip file" and "Could not retrieve file /CONF/UDFLPL/.XML". That's my first problem. There is a way to remove a file, but I think in this case you would lose your floorplan so I will wait for Michel to advise you. My second problem is:I seem to have lost the 99i Administrative Console button I had stored on my desktop to access my ISY. But here's the really weird thing: Last week I spent some time placing all of my devices, scenes and links into folders sorted according to the rooms the device is located in. Is this something I did or what? I really don't understand where my folders and the new folder icon disappeared to!!! If your link is to the UDI site then you will see the console through older firmware (no folders). You can set a new bookmark to http://ISY in IE to access your ISY locally. Rand Quote
NewTech Posted January 2, 2010 Author Posted January 2, 2010 I was able to get the ISY Finder back onto my desktop thanks to a search in the forum and this address http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.7.6/admin.jnlp and the folders are back as they were originally. (I just noticed this version indicates version 2.7.6 and I am running version 2.7.7. Is this an issue? When I click on the "About" tab in my system it shows I am running 2.7.7.) BUT, I am still not able to take a backup of my current system without receiving error messages (see previous post) telling me the file cannot be saved. So consequently I don't want to risk upgrading to version 2.7.8 until I can be sure I have a known good backup. Although my system is small I don't want to have to redo it!!! Any help is greatly appreciated HAPPY NEW YEAR! Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Hi NewTech, Please do the following: 1. telnet to your ISY (http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... o_Your_ISY) 2. login 3. type (case sensitive): RF /CONF/UDFLPL/.XML With kind regards, Michel Quote
NewTech Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 Hi NewTech, Please do the following: 1. telnet to your ISY (http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... o_Your_ISY) 2. login 3. type (case sensitive): RF /CONF/UDFLPL/.XML With kind regards, Michel Michel, Sorry to be a pain... I did as you said and was able to telnet into the ISY then typed in RF /CONF/UDFLPL/.XML but I still cannot make a backup copy of my ISY. Any ideas? The progress bar gets to about 55-60% then stops and within about 10 seconds I get the two error messages. Quote
NewTech Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 Me again... The progress bar when trying to backup gets to CONF/UDFLPL/.XML then times out. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Hi NewTech, MY SINCERE APOLOGIES ... it should be: RF /CONF/UDFLPL.XML And, ISY should let you know that the file was removed successfully. With kind regards, Michel Me again... The progress bar when trying to backup gets to CONF/UDFLPL/.XML then times out. Quote
NewTech Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 Okay, I tried once again tonight to upgrade to version 2.7.8 but still no luck! I ensured that I did indeed download the upgrade for 2.7.8 for the 99i, logged onto my ISY using http://192.168.xxx.xxx/admin, made a backup copy of my ISY configuration then tried to upgrade. Here are the error messages I keep receiving: 1) Socket Open Failed Java.io.IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host and, 2) Upgrade Failed :java.lang.NullPointrerException So, what am I missing here? Thanks for your time! Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Hi Mike R., Please do let me know what firewall software you have. In most cases the issue is firewall. In some cases the issue might be bad wireless connection. If all fails, please contact our tech support and we'll try to upgrade it remotely for you. With kind regards, Michel Quote
NewTech Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 Hi Mike R., Please do let me know what firewall software you have. In most cases the issue is firewall. Michel, I am using Trend Micro. I have disabled this firewall and attempted to upgrade with no luck. The one thing I haven't tried is to upgrade on my desktop computer which has a wired connection. I'm home from school today due to a snowday and my intent is to get this thing upgraded! Quote
NewTech Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 Well, guess I'll be calling tech support because I cannot get this thing to upgrade. Have to go run errands right now but will try later. Is there a special number I should call? Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Hi NewTech, The number is 818-631-0333. After all these failed attempts, I would strongly suggest rebooting ISY and retrying. The file system might be in a corrupt state right now and reboot will fix it. With kind regards, Michel Quote
NewTech Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 Hi, Michel! Happy New Year! I have rebooted the system several times and I've unplugged it so the ISY has no power either from the PLM OR the A/C adapter. The one thing I haven't done yet is to unplug the PLM. Back at school today but more snow forecasted for tomorrow so, if we have another snow day I'll try calling tomorrow. Michel, as always your dedication to customer service is outstanding and I truly appreciate your help. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Hi Mike R., Thanks so very much for the update. Please do give us a call when you are ready and we'll figure it out. With kind regards, Michel Quote
NewTech Posted January 7, 2010 Author Posted January 7, 2010 Michel, I have NO IDEA what I did but all of a sudden I WAS able to upgrade to 2.7.8. I cannot explain the process in detail but I do know that my firewall was on and I used a WiFi connected computer. I also viewed this post from sk8er02: At first boot, yes, the lights blinked but only for a second. After that, only the power light remained solid. The only way I was able to access it with 2.7.8 installed was with Telnet. I tried the following... http://isy/admin http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.7.8 http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.7.8/admin.jnlp Also, after going back to 2.7.7 and posting this I noticed things in the Network module were not working in programs. They just read "Response type=8" in existing programs and it wasn't in the drop down list to use in new ones I used their method to access my ISY http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.7.8/admin.jnlp and this is when I was able to complete the upgrade. So far everything still seems to be working fine although, as I said earlier, my system is very small for the time being. I hope this little tidbit of information assists you in maybe trying to figure what the heck was going on with my system. One other thing I noticed... You said the ISY goes through a migration process on first start-up with 2.7.8 and to be patient. My system powered up in the same time frame as before the upgrade. Don't know if you need this info or not but here it is anyway! I'll keep a close eye on my system and keep you posted on any possible issues. Michel and everyone else who assisted me with this... A GREAT BIG THANK YOU! Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Hi Mike R., Thanks so very much for the update and especially the link to use for the upgrade. I am sure many will find this information quite useful. With kind regards, Michel Quote
