Toggle Link issue

I've had an odd issue crop up.  I have a Toggle Link controlled through an ISY program turning on / off  an exterior light .  Has worked fine for quite some time.  Recently it stopped coming on.  The light on the controller was off so apparently the ISY and Toggle Link thought it was on.  If I fiddled with either the toggle on the switch or tried turning it on from the ISY it would eventually come on.  Turning off from the programming was never an issue.  Trying to figure out the issue I rebooted the ISY and everything seemed to work fine.  The controller is in a 4 gang box.  Switch next to it (not a smart switch) turns on the floodlights.  Last night I noted that if I turn the floodlights on, the light controlled by the Toggle Link turns off.  Turn the floodlights off and the light comes back on.  They are on separate circuits.  Any ideas?  I was going to replace the Toggle Link but try finding one.  They are as rare as Hens Teeth

Did you try factory resetting the device

This sounded like a wiring error until you stated "they are on separate circuits".

What happens if when you turn the floodlight on, the light turns off, can you turn the light back on?  do the lights on the side of the togglelinc switch say the light is still on?

There isn't by chance an old outdoor photocell involved with the light that turns off?   Turn the floodlights on and that old photocell thinks its day and turns the light. turn the floodlights off and it's dark again so the light turns back on.

1) Not sure how to factory reset the device

2)  I can only turn the lights back on if the floodlights are off.  When the outside light turns off, the LED on the Togglelinc stays off - as if the outside light was actually still on.  I believe that, in addition to being on separate circuits, that the floodlight breaker and the breaker of the togglelinc are on separate busses.  There is no photocell involved.  Strange as this circuit has been set up for some time.  I did recently have a new heat pump installed and that involved moving some breakers around in the box but I don't believe these two circuits were involved.

Most devices you can pull out the air gap (set button), wait 30 seconds, push the air gap/set button all the way in AND HOLD it in until the long beep finishes or stops... i.e. hold it to the end of the long beep, don't let go when the beep starts.   The device should turn on after the reset.    I'm not sure which exact model number you have however you can find the full user guide using gogole.   "Insteon 2477d manual" changing the model number according.  Look for the multi-page full manual and not the quickstart quide.

This is really a most unusual case. I suspect it has to do with your wiring and not the toggle linc switch.  If the factory reset doesn't work, Turn the breaker off, pull the switch out of the wall.  Bypass it, by disconnecting the black and red wires and connecting together the house wires that were connected to black and red. turn the breaker back on,  the outside light should be on now.  What happens when you turn the floodlight on now?

According to the Insteon Troubleshooting graph, this is most likely caused by excessive noise on the line. I suspect that your new heat pump may be the reason.  Compressor motors like those use in heat pumps are known for being rather noisey. Moving this device over to a comparable Z-wave device maybe the only real option at the moment.

Factory reset has two procedures. Depending on early or later design.

Pull the set button out. To open the Air Gap switch in it and wait at least ten seconds.

Then push it all the way in. On the earlier ones with no internal beeper. Hold it in for thee seconds. Then release the set button. The ones with the beeper. Keep holding the set button in until the beeper stops beeping then release the set button.

Thanks everyone for the advice.  I will try the factory reset and taking the switch out of the system and direct wire the light (or put in a traditional switch).  I also have a z-wave switch that I will try.
