kyderr Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Every few hours my isy loses network connectivity. Local and portal. The ISY itself doesn't show any errors. Link lights are good and blinking, but it no longer responds to any attempt to connect to it at it's IP address. The Router has a reservation assigned for the IP. Nothing else is using the IP, and a power cycle of the ISY brings it right back to the IP it was. There are no notes in the error log, it's like it just stops running. v 5.3.0 It's usually about 4 hours or so. Log attached. ISY Error Log.v5.3.0__Mon 2022.04.18 21.29.08.txt
Techman Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 Your errors appear to be related to your SD card. Power down the ISY, remove the SD card and clean the contacts with a soft eraser. If that doesn't resolve your issue, then you may have to replace the card 110012 SD DRIVE CONFIG FILE OPEN READ FAILED 110022 OPEN FILE FAILED
kyderr Posted April 19, 2022 Author Posted April 19, 2022 (edited) I saw that but, I couldn't cross reference the error codes. I also saw some logging after that so I thought it was not related. I thought the front panel would indicate if it locked up from SD errors. I'll try what you recommend. Thank you. Edited April 19, 2022 by kyderr Clarification
kyderr Posted April 25, 2022 Author Posted April 25, 2022 Tried a new card, Couldn't even get the ISY to get an IIP address. The log only shows the errors on boot. It doesn't log any errors when it seems to crash. I can see it's still getting insteon traffic and network traffic, but it's totally unresponsive.

kyderr Posted April 26, 2022 Author Posted April 26, 2022 Thank you. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything obvious that someone else had experience with.
Geddy Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 @kyderr If/when you get support from UD and they get you sorted out please post back what resolved this issue to possibly help others that might have this problem down the road.
oskrypuch Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 (edited) @kyderrDo you have the ISY open to an external port, or any device on the LAN open to the outside, for UDP packets? If so, close those ports if you can, or at least set them to TCP only. Probes on your router that leak UDP packets, can confuse the NIC in the ISY, even though you likely won't see anything much else going wrong. I discovered that as an issue some time ago. * Orest Edited April 26, 2022 by oskrypuch 2

It might explain why the device just stops responding on the network though it appears to still be running. Did anything show up in the log when this happened?
oskrypuch Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 I'm trying to remember, it was a while ago, but I don't think there was anything pointing a finger to anything. The ISY just became unaddessable by network at random intervals, so backup/restores would fail, program updates, and just being able to log in. I'd have to reboot the ISY. As a first measure I put the ISY on its own sub-lan, and mirrored the port to wireshark to snoop. I also had some old direct addressing cameras, and some open ports. I closed up the UDP gate, and the problems stopped. I subsequently closed up the ports altogether as I migrated to a different system. it is a wild world out there on the internet! * Orest
