TJF1960
Hoping for a node server for PG3 to work with the Emporia Vue2 energy management system. There is currently one for the original Vue that @bpwwerrecently added to PG3 but I would like to view all 16-channels as well as control their new smart switches which also report power usage on each plug. Pretty snazzy. And they are (both smart plugs and the energy monitoring hub) are really inexpensive. Plus the hub monitors L1, L2 voltage for a more realistic power reading. Here is the link to their website: Emporia: Smarter Home Energy Management (emporiaenergy.com) Also hoping someone will develop a node for the CAI WebControl8 industrial controller board. These were popular here a number of years back. I implemented 3 way back when and they are still going strong. There is a NodeLink from io_guy which works great but I would like to have it all contained and run from Polisy on PG3. Here is the link to the WebControl site: CAI Networks - WebControl™ - Industrial Controller over TCP/IP network Thanks! Tim 1 Link to comment
Kevin
just for the record I also would like to see all 16 channels Link to comment
apostolakisl
@tazman @Kevin @TJF1960 @bpwwerI was looking at getting the Emporia device. I don't really need the channels, I just want the total. Can you confirm that the node server as it currently is will tell me total wattage? EDIT: And I too would like to put a plug in for CAI webcontrol board node server. I am using nodelink and would prefer to use Polisy. Edited August 17, 2022 by apostolakisl Link to comment
tazman
@apostolakisl mine shows the wattage + or - depending if solar is feeding to the grid. I have an issue with my Emporia car charger being displayed instead of the house when it is being used. Link to comment

So, in other words you are saying if solar is zero, it just shows you your current wattage usage on your ISY? Link to comment
Kevin
I have mine sent up and it also displays net use if I am using power it displays positive watts If my solar panels are producing a surplus then it shows a negative watts. I also have a second one on my generator transfer panel on a separate account so I can also see the net usage of that panel Link to comment

Yes but mine is not 100% accurate it is off a little every month without knowing exactly when the meter is read. 1 hour ago, apostolakisl said: So, in other words you are saying if solar is zero, it just shows you your current wattage usage on your ISY? Correct. Link to comment

Correct. That really wouldn't matter. Not super interested in kwh at the end of the month, assuming the error is just the exact moment the utility closes out the bill for the month vs when the Emporia closes out the month. Instantaneous wattage is what I need and it doesn't even need to be that accurate, even if it were off by a few hundred watts, though I would hope it would not be that inaccurate. Link to comment
apostolakisl
@Kevin @tazman By any chance could one of you post a screen shot of what the ISY reporting looks like? When I load the node server up (without an actual device connected) it only lists kwh, not instant wattage. I realize that when you connect a device, you usually get more sub-nodes, but I just want to be certain. Thanks. Link to comment
Kevin
It will not show sub nodes. It only shows net. Link to comment

apostolakisl
@Kevin What about the actual emporia app? Does it show power or only energy? Link to comment
Kevin
There app shows power and amps and even cost. But not available to your controller Link to comment

Kevin
Lol poor Brian is only trying to maintain and develop 100 different node servers. We need someone that can maybe take over it for him Link to comment
bpwwer
@Kevinsince you seem to have a couple of different pieces of Emporia equipment, can you do some testing for me? In the beta store, there's a new version of the Vue node server. All this version does differently is dump information about the equipment it detects when it starts up. I'd like to see the node server log for this version to see what the info for the different devices looks like. It should be possible to install this version in an empty slot and run it along side the production version. It takes a minute or two after configuring it before it logs everything. I just need to see that log. Once you have the log, you can stop the node server. It may simply crash when it tries to dump the info, if that happens, I need to see log showing the crash, I'll fix it and we'll try again. Link to comment

TJF1960
Good morning, just wondering if there was any update on this (Vue2)? Link to comment
bpwwer
I got the information I needed to move forward with adding additional device support. It's going to take a while as my time to work on it is limited. 1 Link to comment
