RLIKWARTZ Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I believe what is happening is the folder I'm creating exists by the same name under other folders and some how it thinks the folder already exists under the folder I want it under. If I create the folder by a unique name it creates under the folder I want it in then I can rename it and it's good. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 Hello RLIKWARTZ, I will do further testing ... please note that folders do not have to have unique names. With kind regards, Michel Quote
CJVann Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Why does the "99i Administrative Console" icon (from: http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.7.11/admin.jnlp) always open with the following message, "An optional update is available. Do you want to update the application?" If I tell it to update, the same message continues to pop up whenever you click the icon. The "Administrative Console" icon (from: http://isy/admin.jnlp) works okay, but every time I upgrade, it deletes the icon and I have to figure out which of the 6 methods it is that creates the working icon. (Guess I should write it down - lol) Quote

Michel Kohanim Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 Hi CJ, This will happen if your Java cache is FULL! In short, Java cannot cache the file and as such it keeps asking you to download it. You might want to increase the total cache size. With kind regards, Michel Quote
CJVann Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 This will happen if your Java cache is FULL! In short, Java cannot cache the file and as such it keeps asking you to download it. You might want to increase the total cache size. Java temporary disk space is set to 1000M & cache should be clear. Let's try again... (Running 2.7.11, verified in Admin console) - Closed browsers, cleared Java Cache (Admin concole icon dissapears from desktop). - Click the link, it downloads & installs the Java app and adds an icon to my desktop, then opens the admin console. - I close the console, and reopen it using the new desktop icon. - It says an optional update is available, so I say "OK" update the application. It then opens the console, but always asks me to update whenever I click the icon. Probably not a big deal, if I install the "http://isy/admin.jnlp" icon instead, it works perfectly. I'm just not sure what it is about the "http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.7.11/admin.jnlp" application that makes it always want to update. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Hi CJVann, Wow, that's quite odd. That is indeed a problem since the whole point of JNLP is that you would not have to download it as long as it has not changed. What operating system do you have? With kind regards, Michel This will happen if your Java cache is FULL! In short, Java cannot cache the file and as such it keeps asking you to download it. You might want to increase the total cache size. Java temporary disk space is set to 1000M, and I just did a "Delete Files" earlier today, and a few days before that (both boxes checked). I'm running 2.7.11. It opens the console okay, the only issue is that it keeps telling me there's an update. Quote

robandcathy1 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I have a issue with my IR transmitter I just received. I plug it in try auto linc no luck, so I put in the address and link it, keep getting the error Node not adressed failed restoring. I have tried sereral different outlets, made sure all lights were off in the house. No luck Quote
RLIKWARTZ Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I've seen the same problem. When you click on the desk top icon and asks if you want to update every time. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, with Java 6 Update 17 also. Quote
Sub-Routine Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Hello robandcathy, Please try this method: ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Linking_an_IRLinc_Transmitter. MarkJames Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I see there are still issues adding motion sensors in 2.7.11? autodiscover with remove links doesn't work for me with a 2420M fresh out of the box. mark Quote

Might want to factory reset it and try again. Quote
MarkJames Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 well - I have another one in a box from smarthome - I'll try that later. It seems that it matters if you remove links or not and if you autodiscover or not. There was another post in a different thread with someone having a problem with it as well, though. mark Quote
MikeB Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 It seems that it matters if you remove links or not and if you autodiscover or not. Motion sensors cannot be linked using Auto Discover. http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... ion_Sensor Quote
wwat Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Does anyone know how to get the Motion Sensor version number to display from within ISY? Thanks. Quote
MarkJames Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Well.... I just tried adding yet another motion sensor - 2420m Rev 2.0. Specified unit ID, specified Remove existing links - got the failed to write highwater mark error along with that node error. I put it back into linking mode and repeated the exact same steps but this time it successfully added. I don't know if it's ISY or me... I'm just glad it added. mark Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 Hi wwat, Unfortunately you cannot since the Motion Sensors do not respond to an IDReq command. That's why you cannot add them using Auto Discover and that's why you cannot get the firmware version out of them. With kind regards, Michel Quote
mvprj84 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Windows 7 Home Premium, with Java 6 Update 17 I also get the same "download update" prompt on my Mac. So definitely not OS specific. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Hi, thanks so very much for the update. I am using MAC OS 10.5 and I do not have this issue. What version of MAC are you using? With kind regards, Michel Quote
mvprj84 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Hi, thanks so very much for the update. I am using MAC OS 10.5 and I do not have this issue. What version of MAC are you using? I'm using Mac OS X 10.6, and running Java 6. As others have noted using the http://isy/admin.jnlp file is "immune" (for a lack of a better word) to these prompts. It's just the one I download from your site that performs an update check each time. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Thanks so very much. I will have to upgrade to 10.6 ... the main issue is that it's very difficult for us to debug if we cannot reproduce. My Windows 7 is actually running in Parallel's in MAC ... With kind regards, Michel Quote
mvprj84 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 As always, let me know if there's anything I can do to help debug. I had been experiencing this for awhile... not having realized that downloading it "locally" fixes the issue, but it was never a big deal to me for the one or two times I open it each day. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Thank you so very much. I may take you up on your offer. With kind regards, Michel Quote
TJF1960 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I hate to jump on the bandwagon, although its not a real big deal, but I have had the update download message pop up pretty much since this method of opening the admin console was available. In Java I tried increasing the size but it was set to max (1000). Also tried to update but it is running the current version. And when I clear the cache the desktop icon disappears. After reinstalling it continues to display the update download available message. I am running XP pro vers. 3 Thanks, Tim Quote
