Matter

It is my understanding that Matter compliance is supposed to make devices universally compatable. Is Universal Devices going to have that compatability? And if so, is there a time frame for this.

I have been an Insteon user for about 20 years ans I still believe that these devices are the best devices around. All other hubs smart devices, in my opinion, don't compare. Any comments and information, would highly be appreciated by me and I'm sure other users.

The forth coming zmatter add-on hardware for the Polisy, and the upcoming eisy, will support 3rd party devices that support matter.  Matter will not be available for the ISY994.

Sorry to say, but that’s when I switch vendors. No plans to go to Polisy and then Matter. I’ll wait for a hub and go with HomeKit.

What I would like to know is devices available on the ISY will be able to be used by other Matter Hubs. I'm way more interested bridging my Insteon devices from the ISY to other places than having matter devices show up on my ISY.

Will this be possible?

Insteon devices do not use Matter.

Not if you're using the isy994 as it will not support matter. You would need the matter board for polisy or the future systems such as the eisy (and matter compatible board) to do so.

Since Matter has not yet been released, no one can say what can be done. If everyone upholds what has been talked about with matter, then yes you could accomplish what you're asking if you have compatible equipment. Until there's a widespread release, all we can do is speculate

Correct. But if Polisy will be a proper Matter hub any devices connected it could be exposed via Matter. Same as Philip's Hue bulbs won't support matter but the Philip's hub will be upgraded to matter so that the bulbs will be exposed to matter via the hub.

I am so curious how all of this will play out. Really hoping that ISY will embrace Matter full heartedly. It could be so great!

It's not all about them. It takes everyone doing the same.
