Firmware 2.7.12 BETA is Now Available

Sorry, it is a joke. And not an inside one, it is just that so many of us have been running beta and alpha software for so long, and the litany of issues that come up after first installing just released software can be quite comical.

The violin comment was just a random thing thrown out there, and many people jumped on the bandwagon.

It does not refer to a feature, it is just a joke that does not translate well to the written word. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Being listed means it should be fixed.

Question...

Listed in "Fixes in next drop" shows a bug in 2.7.12 beta:

Bug xxx - ActionTec/Westell Verizon FIOS routers blocked all TCP connectionss

Does this mean that if I am on a Verizon FIOS ActionTec router, I should avoid this beta as I will not be able to access it from outside my LAN?

Does it still allow access from within the LAN?

Anyone?

I updated to v2.7.12 beta and see that you can now replace older SWL's with the new SWL w/sense firmware! Thanks! Will make it a huge benefit for me having to replace SWL v35 with the new firmware w/sense. Maybe this should have been explained in more detail in the "enhancements" for this firmware for reference.

Getting error messages when logging on stating cannot connect with xxx device. I'm getting two of these messages when I log on. One of the devices has a red ! (a controlinc) and the other doesn't (lamplinc). It keeps happening every time I log on despite the lamplinc never having the red ! and it is query-able.

This behavior seemed to be better under 2.7.10, but since upgrading to 2.7.12, the problem seems to have returned to the way it used to be in 2.7.6 and before.

What Michel is saying here is that now an older switchlinc can be replaced by a newer switchlinc with sense within the ISY. as these are actually two different module types, prior to this release this would not have been possible.

huddadudda is actually physically changing out switches to change firmware, but now with the new ISY firmware the ISY's Replace function can be used to limit the massive amount of reprogramming that would otherwise need to be done.

From the Mac Front.

I do not appear to be able to access the admin console from within a web browser. I can adjust devices and stuff from the simple web interface, but when I select "Administrative Console" the admin console never starts.

In a likely related issue, I am unable to install a new certificate as I cannot get the certificates manager to access my ISY

Hi Illusion,

Would you be kind enough to tell me what URL you are using?

Furthermore, would you please turn on the Java Console (use the Finder and look for Java Properties | Advanced | Show Java Console) and let me know what you see when you access the Admin Console.

Thanks and with kind regards,

Michel

Hi huddadudda,

This was done only because you requested it ... since they are two different types of devices there might be some issues that we are not aware of. As such, would you be kind enough to test and let us know what you find?

With kind regards,

Michel

My 25 replacement SWL should be here on Monday to replace my v35 SWLs. I wont be able to replace them until that weekend (3/13-14) so once they are installed I will post my findings. Hopefully you are right and replacing all these v35 SWLs will help with my intermittent communication problems. It will be nice to have a 100% stable working Insteon environment. Needless to say I have high hopes this resolves things. Thanks for getting this change in the firmware, it will help save me a lot time with the swap out and programming. I'll keep you posted.

Illlusion,

You have a back level Java plugin. You need Java 1.6 ... please ensure:

1. You have the latest 1.6 Java installed

2. In your Java Preferences, J2SE 1.6 is listed at the top and 1.5 below it

Huddadudda,

Thanks so very much and very much looking forward to hearing good news from you.

With kind regards,

Michel

I Think Mac uses a slightly different naming convention.

I have Java SE6 which I show as 1.6.0_17, 64-bit listed at the top, I have J2SE 5.0 under it which I show as 1.5.0_22, 32-bit

I do not believe I am missing any updates.

Hi Illusion,

The only problem is this:

Java Plug-in 1.5.0
Using JRE version 1.5.0_22 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
User home directory = /Users/XXXX (obscured)

This is using your J2SE 5.0 for some reason instead of 6.0.

Would you be kind enough to try http://your.isy.ip.address/admin.jnlp?

Hi Mark,

Yes !!!!

With kind regards,

Michel

I just read through all the posts in this forum and I think congrats are in order. There doesn't appear to be many problems reported with 2.7.12

Time for the Elk module!

:)

That would be in the queue somewhere behind 'Variables' wouldn't it.. :D

Everything is looking good on my network.

Michel,

Yes that works fine. That is how I have been accessing my ISY since the update.

I just upgraded to the new Bets:2.7.12 and there seem to be no problems.

Everything seems to work just fine.

Will post any problems that might arise.

I have more problems with my G1 phone than with my ISY.
