andrew77 Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 I just replaced a SWL using LeeG's directions Everything seems to be good. I deleted the old address in the Portal and in the Amazon Alexa Smart Home browser page. I've added the new device as a light etc. All good I can tell her to turn the device on and off no problem. But when I tell her to turn it on 10% or example she says "Hmm, I don't know that" have I missed a step? Drew
Solution brians Posted December 28, 2022 Solution Posted December 28, 2022 Try telling Alexa to "set device to 10 percent", or "dim device to 10 percent". 1

I'm uncertain why I used to be able to tell the SWL Turn on to __% and now I cant. I have SWL that currently react to the "Turn On ___%" command with no problem.

Not sure, Alexa gets confused sometimes and often turns off wrong light or all the lights in a room if they are named closely. A problem I find is that that I have too many lights and forget what they are called 1
MrBill Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 When using Percents i've never mixed in "Turn on" with the command... I just say "Alexa, set X to Y" (you can actually omit the word "Percent"). Example, "Alexa, Set Lamp one to 30" 1

Some devices will respond to "Turn On" but all devices seem to respond to "set" Thank you 1
Geddy Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 @andrew77 are all devices the same type in Alexa? Some might be a switch and others might be a light. There might be a difference. Just a guess/hunch. I've just always used "set x to y" for simple use.

MrBill Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 i've never seen one.. I just leave stuff out. I was surprised the night i discovered timer language can be quite terse.
