Purpose of Query for Z-Wave battery devices

Featured Replies

I quite often get a Request Failed or some sort of TCP error when selecting the Query button in the Admin Console for a battery-operated Z-Wave device. It's my understanding that a battery device is asleep and wouldn't hear a command from the controller.

Which possess the question on what exactly does that query button do in this case? Can someone explain this for me?

I believe you would need to wake the device up before Querying. I think the button is part of the ZWave set up, I believe Polisy/eisy doesn't customize features depending on battery device or not(?).

Battery operated devices cannot be queried because they go to sleep in order to save the battery. The query option is there in the event you use an external power supply to power the device.
