Support Thread: 5.3.4 (ISY994)

I've noticed that with 5.3.3  and the Somfy ZRTSI  the admin console incorrectly shows the motor(s) status.  When one blind closes the admin console shows all the blinds as closed even though all but one is open.

UPDATE: Apparently the ZRTSI only communicates with the Somfy motors in one direction so it's unable to report the correct motor status when queried by the ISY

Updated to 5.3.4 without any issues

If you have a stable working system, you may want to wait before migrating.

That's what I am going to do, as my system 5.3.3 is pretty stable, other than an issue of many months that my Administrative Console fails half of the time. I have a pending ticket for this. This is not urgent as I am sure that the UD team has a full plate.

I'm trying to upgrade from 5.3.0 and I'm getting an error (see attached). I've rebooted several times with no luck. Can someone please try to help me?

If you uploaded the zipped zip file just as it was downloaded, you either picked the wrong file (PLM vs non-PLM), or had anti-virus software the modified something.  If you don't think any of those are the cause then you should likely open a ticket by emailing support@universal-devices.com to receive help directly from UDI.

Noticed that after i upgraded to 5.3.4 my ISY, after about 5 mins of inactivity is hung doing something in the background.   Here is a screen shot.  Only way to get control of the admin console is to close and reopen.

What version did you upgrade from?   Can you check that your firmware and UI versions match (Help > About)

Do you have a portal account?   If so you can view the log and error log via the portal if your having difficulty using the admin console to do that.

If you can switch to the Programs Tab and then Summary, the sort by the Activity column (click the column header) you may be able to spot a run away program.

You might also try following the wiki instructions to increase the size of the java cache to make your admin console more responsive.    If your computer has plenty of RAM consider using -Xmx1024m (instead of the suggested 512).

I have no programs, only use the ISY as an insteon/zWave gateway for the HomeSeer software.  Do all my programing/logic in HomeSeer.  After increasing the Java cache to 9000 the user interface stayed up for hours but hung overnight, but that's fine.  I am not a Java person but seem like there might be a runaway process depleting the memory.

Then ISY would not have a runaway process as you have no processes. View the Event Viewer in level 3, and also look for operations runaway in Homeseer.

Why are you leaving admin console open for hours? It's not like you've got to watch what its doing. Open it only when you need to actively need to change something in the system.

I was with @jtsnyderjr in as wanting to keep the AC open all the time, as I like to use it to control nodes and my computer is my primary tool with my phone the secondary.

This being said, I now know that this is not the role  of the AC and have started to use Home Assistant (in my browser) which perfectly serves my purpose.

I upgraded now all my zwave devices are not able to communicate.  Running a sync all and each one is Process of that node failed. Node ignored.  Recommendations?

Which Zwave dongle do you have, the 300 or 500 series?

Which firmware version did you upgrade from?

Is your firmware and UI the same version?

Figured it out.  My ISY is connected to a wifi network.  I ran an ethernet cable to it.  Reinstalled this upgrade, and it worked fine.  Dont do this over wifi.

Not sure what you're referring to, the ISY doesn't support wi-fi and requires a hardwired connection to a hub or router.

FWIW: I upgraded from 4.x (maybe 4.9).... today to 5.3.4

Followed the instructions. Went thru no problem. The only thing that stumped me for a moment was my logon and password.

I tried: "admin".. and "my password" three of four times.. But no good. So i walked away. Came back and tried "admin" "admin" and i'm in.

So i figured i was starting from the ground up.... but not the case. All my programs are there... So it looks good so far.

I mainly use the isy as an enhancer to an Elk M1 install. But i use the network resources for all kinds of stuff too.

I purchased a polisy a long time ago, still new in the box. I guess i can now give it a run.

Congrats.

The only thing that doesn't upgrade nicely these days is programs that use the "Adjust Scene" feature, you must not have had any that included it.  You can double check easily by opening the Programs > Summary tab and scanning the page for the color Yellow.  If you see any yellow, go check those individual programs.

For what it's worth, the instructions do cover the credential reset:
