capitalny Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 My current setup runs very reliably, and I'd like to move forward, integrate with Ecobee, get better Sonos integration (done via network module now), better Somfy as well (done via a serial PLM now). I'd also like to move off Mobilinc, to the ISY Portal. I am looking for advice/help, on the best order of operations to get me to the "future." I am willing to buy new hardware if that makes it easier. Current setup: Firmware Insteon_UD994 v4.9.0 UI Insteon_UD994 v4.9.0 ISY 994i (1120) OpenADR (21010) Networking Module (21040) Portal Integration - MobiLinc PLM 2413S, v2.1 Thanks! Stephen
Techman Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 @capitalny Welcome to the forum You can update your ISY to the latest firmware version at this link: 5.3.4 (ISY994) - Last release for ISY994 - Current Release Announcements - Universal Devices Forum (universal-devices.com) The update from 4.9.0 to 5.3.4 requires some user intervention. Be sure to read and follow the release notes. The ISY has been discontinued and will shortly no longer be supported. The current hardware is the EISY which is currently on back order. I see three "upgrades" I will want to make: Latest firmware Mobilinc -> ISY Portal ISY -> eisy Is there any advantage or disadvantage, in the order I make those changes? Techman Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 The older PLMs were prone to hardware failures, the current versions have updated firmware and hardware. If you're moving up to the EISY I would suggest buying a USB PLM from Insteon USB Modem Interface (PLM) – Insteon If you want to migrate your ISY to the EISY then you'll first need to upgrade your ISY firmware to 5.3.4

If you are and you're on 4.x then I would probably cancel and disable that first. I am using Mobillic Connect, and I'm on 4.x now, so, that helps, I'll tackle that migration first. Curren plan: 1) Move from mobillinc connec to ISY portal 2) Upgrade firmware after that, I can try some integration with Ecobee, etc. eisy and a new PLM, probs best to wait until I can actually get an eisy ;). I think the first two steps are big enough for now. I would like to know how best to move to the eisy and new PLM though. I have replaced a PLM before and the ISY made it very easy. Replacing both... new ground! 2

capitalny Posted April 30, 2023 Author Posted April 30, 2023 Thanks everybody for the help. I needed to open a support ticket to get mobilinc off my ISY, the portal would not let me remove it myself. Not sure if that is normal, it might be that the ISY is over ten years old (and still running perfectly!). I also learned I needed to delete the Mobilnc entries manually from Alexa/Echo, not sure if I just missed that in the migration instructions or looked in the wrong place. Good news is, the ISY Portal is now installed and working well. I also saw the eisy was back in stock, I ordered one. I'm not even sure if I really needed it given the ISY is still performing so well, but, I thought it was worth it if only to give Universal Devices the business. Supporting a product for ten years is amazing.
