tesaurojm Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 Yesterday I had a power failure in my home that lasted 20 minutes. Today I discovered I had an issue with ISY finder not being able to find my EISY. However, I was still able to access the ISY using UD Mobile and the ISY appeared to function normally performing daily routine programs. I took the following steps to try to get ISY Finder working. Cleared browser cache Cleared Java cache including all applications Linked u_d_.com to java security Rebooted computer and EISY Confirmed Computer and ISY both wired into same network None of the above steps worked so I tried using my laptop instead of my desktop and had the same results. At this point, I'm thinking that I would have to factory reset the EISY and load the backup file. I'm sure my issue was related to the power failure, and I was not a real fan of doing the reset so decided to take a break. After a while I decided to remove the power, Lan connection and PLM connection from the ISY and to unplug the PLM. After 30 seconds, I plugged everything back in and ISY Finder worked like a champ! Just thought I would share this information. 1 1
gages97 Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Curious, is there an doco on how the discovery process works? As in how does ISY/EISY advertise itself to the discovery service? I have been using ISY/EISY for 10+ years, the discovery works 99% of the time, but sometimes it doesn't and I have to manually add in the URL of the device.
Michel Kohanim Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 @gages97, 1. Regular mDNS 2. Proprietary UDP to port 20036 With kind regards, Michel 1
gages97 Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 @Michel KohanimInteresting. I wonder if some networks are more sensitive on the discovery than others, but if on the same subnet should really matter.
Michel Kohanim Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 @gages97, For sure VPN connections kill both of the above. With kind regards, Michel
Andy P Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Every once in a while launching the finder does not find either of my EISYs, so when it did find them, I did a SAVE file. Now when it doesn't find the EISY, I just do a LOAD and it allows me to get to the admin consoles without any problem. Never figured out the pattern for when they don't show up in the finder. Andy 1
tlightne Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 (edited) @Andy P My laptop does that every Sunday. It resets the theme data back to default also. So like you I just do a load on my saved file and all is good... Edited July 25, 2023 by tlightne
oskrypuch Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Oh cool, the Load keeps the theme settings. Handy. * Orest
tlightne Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 @oskrypuch Sorry guess I did not clarify, the Load does not keep the Theme settings. Wish it did..
