randyth Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 For those of you using an Alexa with your home automation... Did you know that Amazon is tracking all the activity of the home automation devices you've exposed to Alexa whether or not it was Alexa that triggered that activity. This includes things like manually turning a light on or off, or having your ISY activate something on a schedule. To see your Alexa Smart Home History, try this link: https://www.amazon.com/alexa-privacy/apd/dsh?ref=activityHistory&locale=en-US If you click on Manage my smart home device history->Email history from that webpage, you can get a CSV file with the status and usage information Alexa has about smart home devices associated with your account. You will also receive access to a report with "helpful insights" about your use of smart home devices connected to Alexa. That's not creepy at all.
MrBill Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Actually insanely funny in my case.... I have some artwork (here is 30 second video clip is of 3 of the 5 pieces) that changes color via hue constantly 24 hours a day... it's even changing color when it's off. When I click on any day of history (such as yesterday) it produces a few hundred records getting us back to 11:59PM.... (i.e. 1 minute of history) then it pauses for awhile before it says "an error has occurred". I'd love someone to go searching thru my history.....
brians Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 I stopped using Alexa while ago since its home automation interface etc. is not so good. I have everything integrated through Apple HomeKit and just use that for Voice (no extra setting up spokens etc... "it just works" LOL)... not sure what they keep track of but I trust Apple more than I would Amazon regarding my smarthome.
vbPhil Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 My history is empty. I'm just using Alexa to mute the TV volume through a Home Assistant script and none of that activity is showing up.
