Kentinada Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 Really trying to understand how these two work together and do I need both. I installed Notification Node Server and configured a few network resource notifications. They seem to work fine. I assume I could keep doing it this way with no issues. But I also installed the Push (Pushover) Node Server and bought a license for my desktop and iPhone. The Push device in the Admin console has no devices added to it. There seems to be 2 ways to add devices: through the polyglot dashboard and configuration page for Push or from the Admin console Node Servers/Push menu. Either way, it's not clear how to define a device. From the dashboard, it says: Enter things: Key Value Front Door you can leave this blank Garage Door Etc Are these keys related to Eisy devices or have nothing to do with them? From the Node Server/Push menu, I can add either a Pushover Controller node or a Thing node. It's asking for a Name, Node Address, and Primary Node Address. No clue what addresses this is referring to. I've looked through the wikis and the forum but can't find anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
dbuss Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 I've attached a screenshot of the configuration panel in my Push Plug-in. Here's an example of how I use them in a program. Garage Door Open Notification - [ID 0003][Parent 0001] If 'ZY 213 Garage Door' Status is Open Then Set 'Polyglot / Push / Garage Door' Message Open Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') 1
tlightne Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 You really do not need the Push plugin. The notification plugin and the pushover app on your phone or computer will allow you do do all you need.. 1
Kentinada Posted December 15, 2023 Author Posted December 15, 2023 Can the Push Node Server messages be customized? I see the predefined messages in the attached screen shot. What if I want something else?
DennisC Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 As a stand alone, the Notification plugin is great for short messages, as is UD Mobile. For longer or customized messages, Pushover shines. Have you seen the instructions page here: https://github.com/UniversalDevicesInc-PG3/udi-poly-notification/blob/master/README.md and here: https://www.jimboautomates.com/pg3-node-servers#h.h1ph1aotljg6 1
paulbates Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 To add to @DennisC's answer, if you use Jimbo's paid Notification plugin, and setup piushover nodes using the Notification Server's pg3 page, yes.. you can have long messages AND variable substitution AND tweak which sounds are used AND priority of the message in pushover 2
Kentinada Posted December 15, 2023 Author Posted December 15, 2023 Too many questions to ask here. I am going to post in the Notifications subforum.
