wmcneil Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 I am going to be moving my Polisy from an existing home to a new home. I have both insteon and zwave devices installed currently. Most of those existing devices are not going to be migrated from existing home to new home, rather I will be purchasing new devices and installing them in the new home and building the network up in the new home over time. In this scenario, what is the best practice to restore IoX and PG3x to a "new install" state on the polisy box? I assume the answer is: "Do a Factory Reset (Press and hold Multi Function Button until all three LEDs are flashing), then follow Bootup Sequence directions in the Polisy User Guide to start over with the install process." I just wanted to double check to see if there is anything else I might be missing.
Techman Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Being that you're basically starting over you should do a factory reset on your Zwave controller and on your Polisy. Any devices that you bring wjith you should be factory reset before installing them in your new home.

Good points: I'll factory reset the ZMatter dongle using the AC I'm not bringing any devices that have any parameters that have been modified, but in the general case, it is a good thing to remember to factory reset the zwave devices when moving them to a new install I'm also not moving an insteon plm, if I was the plm would need a factory reset as well.
Techman Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Before you disconnect your zwave devices from your existing home you should EXCLUDE them from the zwave controller. After all your Zwave devices have been excluded you can then factory reset the Zmatter dongle. You then won't have to factory reset the Zwave devices.

Yes, I am keeping my network going up until I actually close on the sale of the house. I have removed (excluded) the few devices that I am taking with me (and modified programming appropriately). On closing day, I will simply unplug the polisy box and take it with me. I would be happy to sell/leave it if the buyer had interest in learning how to use it, but the chances of that are very small. And of course, even if the person is interested, they would have to be highly motivated, as I most definitely do not have much time I can spend on education (I am moving, looking for another house, etc. etc.)
