br928s4 Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Is there any way to get Smarthome's TouchLinc to communicate with the ISY? Using their SmarLinc seems like it would complicate the installation with a ISY in the system also. A wireless access panel would be a great addition to the ISY.
Michel Kohanim Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Hello br928s4, We have not been given any specifications on TouchLinc nor are there any developers documentation. We would love to support TouchLinc! With kind regards, Michel
br928s4 Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 I guess Smarthome is keeping the details "close to the vest". I owned one of the older TouchLinc's years ago but it was discontinued. I have been waiting years for its promised replacement. I have ordered one to see what its capabilities are. The fact that you would like to support it is encouraging.
chuckl Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I also own the original TouchLinc and the information on the new version interesting. Looks like from the Smarthome and Insteon site specs there is a speaker and will support audio and streaming video from the network. http://ulanoff.com/blogs/automation/201 ... ncarnated/ http://www.insteon.net/2448-touchlinc.html http://www.smarthome.com/2448/TouchLinc ... ler/p.aspx
Mark Sanctuary Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Ok this thing looks more interesting if they get this done... Future Upgrades (Version 2)An embedded app is planned for release during Q4 2010 (certain factors may cause this date to change) and will turn the TouchLinc into a direct INSTEON controller by way of a new thumbdrive INSTEON USB interface. Newer features will include: * Richer, more dynamic interface * Faster communications * Better status confirmation * Easier and more flexible scene and device creation * More customizable * Use embedded TouchLinc application making TouchLinc a native INSTEON controller and much much more. http://www.smarthome.com/2448/TouchLinc ... ler/p.aspx
midrar Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Whats missing from the list of key features is ISY support. Also, has Universal Devices ever considered coming out with their own remote control. Imagine a Remotelinc with an LCD screen in the center. Any thoughts?
Michel Kohanim Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Hello midrar, We do not know how to support this device! As far as our own remote controls, the short answer is NO. Here's the long answer if you are interested: There are so very many inexpensive tablet/mobile devices out there (especially Droid) that make it very difficult for us to compete. Furthermore, since we have our 3rd party partners continuously developing/enhancing their mobile applications for differnet platforms, it would be unethical to start competing with them. With kind regards, Michel
randlefactor Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 The TouchLinc works with the ISY the same as any other tablet (or PC or SmartPhone) running an internet browser. Just start up IE and enter your remote access IP address. If you try to open the Admin Console you will get the message, "Java 2+ Required".
