zachgoldberg Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Hello! I apologize if this is slightly offtopic as I am still confused if I am in the right place. I am looking to be able to control the lights in my house using the UPnP protocol. If I understand correctly I can use INSTEON or Z-wave or x10 or one of these systems to create the inhome network. Can I then use a UDI device to attach to these networks and expose the devices as UPnP devices? My goal is to be able to use my own software (which works on UPnP) to control the lights in my house. Will the ISY-99i allow me to do this? Thanks! Sorry again if this is totally wrong and not what UDI is about at all.
Michel Kohanim Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Hello zachgoldberg, Long time ago we started with UPnP but due to a variety of issues (including security), we have moved away from UPnP and have instead concentrated on web services and REST. In short, you can find ISY using UPnP Discovery and you can Subscribe to it using UPnP subscription but the rest are all web services. With kind regards, Michel
