Can't control scene from console

I suspect this is a simple issue but I'm not able to figure it out. I'm not able to control lights from within a scene. I've created a scene and placed two (2476S)SwitchLinc Relay W/Sense v.37 into the scene as controllers. This is a 3-way switch and i simply want either switch to turn the lights on/off. I can control both from My Lighting list but when i attempt to control either from within the scene... nothing. When i try to control the scene...nothing again. What am i doing wrong?

When you click on the scene icon itself (the round looking icon), what are the on levels for each of these switches?

Yes, they can control each other by pressing either switch. When i click on the scene icon, the levels are:

On Level 100

Would you be kind enough to go to Tools | Diagnostics | Scene Test, choose your scene from the list, and then let me know if it succeeds. If it does not, then there is a signal strength/noise issue between your PLM and your switches.

I tested the scene and one succeeded and one failed

That's the crux of the issue! For some reason the signal is not getting from the PLM to your switches. If you have any Access Points, my I humbly suggest plugging one right on top of the PLM?

I can answer your question: scene commands are different than direct commands (point to point). A scene command is send once and all the devices participating in the scene should respond. Also, when they respond, they have to send a packet back to the PLM.

 

You mentioned that both of your SWLs are v37, correct? Are you certain you do NOT have any v35 SWLs in your system?

I double checked Here's what i have:

Is there any difference in the load type for these devices. Specifically, for the one that fails the scene test.

 

The problems are really limited. We just have to figure out which one is the cause:

1. Noise ...

2. Signal strength ...

3. Defective switch ...

 

Would it be possible to swap (location/load wise) the non-responding SWL with a functioning SWL? In this case, if the problem moves with the Switch, then the Switch is probably defective. Otherwise, there's something wrong with the load or wiring.

Ok,

here's where I run into a problem. I had an electrician install all the switchlincs because I will most definately burn the house down if I were to do it. So I can't relocate the devices. I don't know how to determine the load type other than to say they are wall toggles that control several 75watt flood lights. Individually, the switches work as expected, except from within a scene. Hopefully there are other things we can try without removing and/or replacing switches. (unless they are bad)

The 75watt flood light IS your load. To double-check, these are incadescent (as opposed to CFL or other) correct?

 

One other shot-in -the dark....where is your PLM plugged? Is it near the plug-in for your computer equipment? Do you have UPS, conditioned power, power supplies, etc... all/any plugged in outlets near the PLM? Do you use any filters in your house?

 

If not a defective device, this sure sounds like communication issues, especially in light of the failed scene test.

Yes they are incandescent, my PLM is in the same room as the plugs for 2 iMacs, but on a different plug on top of a 7ft. cabinet. I do not have a ups. 12 ft away from a couple of Drobo power supplies. I don't have any conditioners or filters, Should I?

Even though not on the exact same plug. Are all the devices on the same branch circuit? Like one breaker would turn all of the devices off and on.

 

It is very possible the iMacs power supplies are either making line noise or are signal absorbers. The Drobo supplies may also.

 

I do know most computer power supplies and surge strips can be problems with power line signals.
