UDM Shows I Have Notifications But None Are Showing

Before I enter a ticket, there might be something I am missing in clearing notifications.

I have UDM installed on my Android Tablet and My Samsung Android phone. My phone shows one notification in the bottom center, (screenshot attached), and my tablet shows three notifications in the bottom center but none are evident or showing.

How do I clear these ghost notifications or are there notifications for something else, somewhere else?

Thanks!

John

Thanks for the reply @DennisC

What happens if you select the 3 notifications on your tablet?
Nothing....  you see what the image shows that I posted which is nothing, actually "no new notifications".

Have you synchronized both devices recently?
(Didn't even cross my mind), but tried and again, no change. Still no notifications but shows at the bottom I have them.

I've tried deleting notifications, but that changes nothing. Nothing to delete but tried it.

The only other suggestion I have for you is to reboot your UD controller (ISY, Polisy, eisy).

If that doesn't work, you will need to get @Javi's attention either here or open a support ticket.

Thanks @DennisC

I have two devices in different parts of the state so I will reboot and see what happens....

Thanks!

Oh, let's try something else then.

Go to home button on your tablet, at top is a box which indicates which device you are connected to.

Change to your "other device" and then go back to notifications tab.

Anything shown?

I've done that a lot of times and just a while ago a couple times after resyncing.

No change.

Seems as tho sometimes a reboot clears all things. Just don't know which device or where, is the fault if that can casue the issue. SO here we go. One at a time. I'll report back.

OH ME!! This is interesting. Each reboot caused three notifications for each eisy. And I received all 3. First is the going off line/reboot, then two for startup, PG3 etc. SO I went from on my tablet 1 notification always flagged to 4 (3+1), with 3 in the notification area. I deleted all notifications. On my phone I had 4 or vice versa... not sure it maters which android, I delted the three and ow I have 6 notifications in the folder with a red 6!!!

So, it seems the app is not subtracting the deleted notifications. Surely someone else should be experiencing this if it is a bug. It's the latest version of UDM but just a week ago or so, maybe less. Not sure exactly when it started and not a big deal as things still work but annoying to have it tell you you have notifications when none are shown.

Thanks.

I'll Do a support ticket.

No update available on the Play Store. Again, it was recently updated maybe a week ago or less. About 21 apps back and I had 9 today.

It looks like UD Mobile is signed into two accounts.  Press the Account Name to change to the other account's Notifications.

@Javi

I have done that a bunch of times too in just general use and in trying to see which device might cause this if that might be the cause. In any event,

There is no change in the results. What ever account I am in, it displays the same results and numbers in both accounts.

I have gone into app settings and cleared the cache but not data.

@Javi

I stand corrected.. If I go to Home and change accounts there, the results are the same.

When I go to notifications and change accounts I can see the notifications! And can delete them! Yea!!

Is this now new normal behavior. One must change accounts to delete and see the notifications? I certainly liked being able to see notifications from any account/device no matter what account I'm in as some notifications from the account I am not in or viewing might be critical!

Is this a new "feature"? I don't recall this behavior a couple weeks ago.

If this is new please then add a View All and Delete All. This would lessen confusion for most users I might assume... Or go back to what it was some time ago to fewer steps and a little less code.

I guess I'm the only one finding this annoying and not a fan. Oh well. I do wonder how and why things change and must have been from user feedback?

Thanks!

The Home, Automation, Settings tabs have a dropdown to change the Displayed Controller, not the displayed Portal Account on the Notifications Tab.  Notifications a linked to a Mobile Device and Portal Account, not a Controller, and may be created by third parties outside of the controller.  So, grouping by controller is not possible in all situations, grouping by Account works for all situations.

Yes, it is new.  Most users have a single Portal account with multiple controllers. So, having multiple Portal accounts is an exception, usually reserved for installers, managers, and developers.   The account selection on the Notifications Tab should only be shown if the user has multiple Portal Accounts linked in UDM.  Before your post I've only seen 2 users (not in the exceptions listed above) with multiple accounts linked to UDM, and one of them may have been you :) .

I see how it can be annoying, but the reverse was also true (feedback).  When managing multiple accounts, it was hard to see which account had notifications and too easy to delete notifications which the manager did not intend to delete.

I'll keep this in mind while we develop, maybe a User Preference to show notifications from all accounts?
