A power outage appears to have taken out my PLM.  I have a spare, what is the procedure to replace it and restore my system?  I did a search and cannot find a simple answer.  Is it as eisy (ha ha pun on words) as plugging it in and doing a restore PLM?

Yes, it's written for the older ISY devices, but the process remains the same with the modern devices. 

Be sure you've done a lot of troubleshooting to confirm it's a "bad" PLM. Lots of troubleshooting steps are also covered in the wiki. 

 

Geddy, I determined the PLM was bad, so I put the new one in as outlined in the wiki.

I did the restore PLM and it has been at system busy for over 3 hours.  Do I continue to wait, or power cycle it?

Does the iox screen show progress in restoring devices, or is it still/stuck?

Do you have any battery wireless devices like sensors: Leak sensors, motion sensors, door sensors or Insteon remotes? Wireless devices each, individually have to be put into linking mode to complete the restore

OK, I got the admin console back.  PLM devices are working now.

All the battery devices are giving me trouble.  I will do as you advise and try to link each individually

I ended up having to remove and reinstall every battery device.  Why would all the RF devices quit like that (they don't use the PLM)?

Wireless devices do use the plm, it has both powerline and rf radios

RF devices are in a power saving state and you have to wake them up individually to read and write data to them.

When doing a restore. It is best to turn off automatic writes to wireless devices. If you have that option. ISY994i PRO and I believe all eisy's have that option. So you don't have all the retires and failed message to slow down the restore.

I have the EISY and it does have that option, which I failed to use......
