breischaft Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 I have an eisy with over 120 Insteon devices, mostly switches. Also have Amazon Echo or Sonos speakers with Echo built in throughout house, integrated with ISY portal. most of the time, voice commands (Alexa, turn Outside Lights on") work instantly, with alexa replying "ok". Intermittently, Alexa responds "ok" but nothing happens. Within 5 minutes or so, the light does turn on or off. This is across many devices, not just one. It 'feels like' something is asleep and takes time to wake up, then processes a queue. How do I troubleshoot? many times it's not convenient to whip out phone or computer to see eisy - we use switch and move on (mostly with my wife cursing Alexa) Help appreciated. breischaft Posted October 19, 2024 Author Posted October 19, 2024 example this morning - 7:04 "Alexa, turn outside lights on" Alexa: "OK". no lights. by 7.07, the lights turned on. I wish I had left Admin console and event viewer up on a computer so I could see traffic. Any other thoughts on how to figure out? Thanks!
Geddy Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 @breischaft I've tried Alexa commands a few times during the day today and haven't had any delays. Certainly not minutes like you're experiencing. I would suggest you open a support ticket with UD to see if they can help diagnose if this is a portal issue on their side or a system issue within your setup. https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets Please be sure to post any resolution they give you so that we all can learn from this and might help others should they have similar issues.
larryllix Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 How many skills do you have loaded into your Alexa ap? My sister=in-law used to love to add every funny skill she could think of into my system and that seemed to slow down my HA system response while the Alexa servers would sort out where the commands needed to go. However, never that many minutes. I am talking 10-20 seconds, at times. With my blinds and other two server daisy-chained skills I ave experienced many "I cannot contact your xxx server". or "your server xxx seems to be offline" responses and then the device operates anyway, about 20-30 seconds later. Must be some sort of handshake back failure on those ones.
