How long does it take for an Insteon leak detector to return to "wet off"

So I had a small leak. Found the leak detector that was triggering the alarm - everything worked perfectly.

I cleaned the contacts of the leak detector but 1) could not figure out how to reset it that it was no longer wet - I guess you can't. 2) I saw no way in IoX to reset or query anything. Eventually I got the "wet" status to go from On to <blank>

I deleted this sensor, re-linked it, added it back as a controller for my sirens. Is there an easier way to do this? Is it just a matter of waiting a period of time maybe?

Thank you

I shows the last status change and that can take a while.  "Blank" probably means the eisy was reset.

Did you try pulling the battery after drying it with the towel and letting it sit an hour?

I definitely did not reset the eisy. But when I did not see the "wet off" status (kept seeing "wet on") - then I pulled the battery, put it back waited a bit but nowhere near an hour. I guess next time, I will let it "sit". I just wanted to make sure the sirens didn't go off again during my zoom call. I could have ran around the house unplugging them I guess but I'd rather just learn how they reset automatically or if I need to do anything manually.

I have several these directly linked to an Insteon chime/siren and with Notification plugin messages to pushover.

One of them went off once near the well, I had placed it too close. I cleaned the sensor like you did, pulled the chime module out of the wall to shut it up for a while and plug it back and replaced the sensor on the floor a little further away.

Once it's no longer in water you have to press the set button on the leak detector to reset the status to dry.

Having to manually reset the Insteon leak detectors is why I moved on to other options.  Many of mine were in inconvenient locations and having to reset them any time it triggered became a non-starter for me.

What other options are you using?

JSchumann - I have been using Z-wave detectors.  I found one I really liked that could be plugged in and not require batteries. I like them because they located in a not easy to reach crawlspace so no worries about dying batteries.  They also use a flexible mesh cord to detect moisture as opposed to the "prong" method on most detectors.  Unfortunately, it has since become unavailable.

Most recently I installed Aeotec sensors to monitor for any water accumulation in my attic AC pans.  They do require batteries, so I just have a yearly calendar reminder to replace them.

The Insteon leak detectors I have latch the wet state.  I have to clear the water and quickly tap the little button to send the all clear update.

JKM - Thanks for the info!  I really would like a battery free one that will reset without local intervention......Will review the Aeotec though.

Thanks,

John
