Kevo1961 Posted Monday at 12:40 PM Posted Monday at 12:40 PM Is there a device or something that would alert me of loss of power on a specific power circuit. Currently using Eisy 5.8.4 and mostly Insteon. Quote
paulbates Posted Monday at 01:06 PM Posted Monday at 01:06 PM (edited) Is there a circuit nearby the one you want to monitor that would not be affected and stay on? Is the device on the monitored circuit always drawing power? I use a Functional Devices RIBXTGA power sensor connected to an Insteon iolinc to monitor my sump pump going on and off. It's power on/off is caught within in the eisy in around 1 second. This set up could be used to detect / notify of an individual circuit going down, but the iolinc would need to be plugged into a different circuit that would not lose power. It takes a little work to get it installed and calibrated, but is extremely reliable. Edited Monday at 01:08 PM by paulbates Quote
Guy Lavoie Posted Monday at 02:40 PM Posted Monday at 02:40 PM Another trick could be to have the monitored circuit power a small electromagnet of some kind, and have that next to a Insteon open / close sensor, such that the contacts on the sensor reed switch would open when the magnetic field stops due to power failure. It has the advantage of being battery powered if a separate reliable power source isn't nearby. Quote
IndyMike Posted Monday at 04:22 PM Posted Monday at 04:22 PM I am using a Zooz ZAC38 (Z-waver) repeater to monitor a problem GFCI circuit for nuisance trips. The device has battery backup and informs my HomeAssistant install when AC power drops out. @Techman is using the same device on the EISY, so it is supported. https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/44418-anybody-tried-the-new-zooz-zac38-repeater-with-power-outage-alerting/ Quote

apostolakisl Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago The superfast and easy way to do it would be to plug an insteon lamp linc or any powered insteon device into the power and set an ISY program to query it every minute or whatever you like and if the query fails to send you a notification. @Guy Lavoie His idea of using an electromagnet and an Insteon open/close sensor was going to be my next suggestion until I saw he already posted it. You would get a near instant report of power outage that way. There are also lots of other ways as well. For example, I use wireless tags to monitor temps. If you use powered tags you can check them for going offline. I do this to make sure I haven't lost power to walkin fridge/freezer at my church. I have programs that check if the wireless tag goes more than a minute without a change to either the temp or humidity. Both of these change by at least .1 each update so if they don't change at all I know something is up. Both of these solutions of course require that your ISY and your routers/switches/internet keep working when power is lost. Quote
