WHEN will you ever correct the lack op static IP option on the Eisy????????????????

I live in Florida, and every time the power goes out (twice a week) your silly device acquires a different IP address.

This compromises my security system.

@Hawkspoint,

We are not going to do that. The reason we removed this feature was because of massive tech support issues. You can easily have your router provide eisy the same address EVERY TIME by using DHCP Reservations. Please check your router's configuration instructions.

With kind regards,
Michel

Agreed with @Michel Kohanim, it drove me nuts losing my static IP, and I too started a thread, but having been on the tech support side of home tech, it was a smart move on UDI part.  Most routers have a fixed DHCP reservation table.  I have everything in my house in that table, and leave DHCP open for a small window of other devices. Once I capture a MAC address I name it and add it to the table.  This way I can quickly see if there is something on my network that doesn't belong.

A lot more about this in this thread.

However. I think the main issue is if UDI could make the option greyed out, they could have made it invisible with the same amount of quick coding.

OTOH..we should have an HTML browser GUI coming soon. Then we should have a flurry of webpage writers making our heads spin with variations we never thought of before.

Think..old iPads, or mobile phones, on the walls for control panels with temperature gauges, sliders for lighting levels. and whatever else you can dream up.

I think it has been more than 20 years since I have seen a router without option for DHCP assigned fixed IP based on MAC address.  It is foolish to do it any other way since you would then need to manually keep a table of all your devices with fixed address lest you end up with multiple devices on the same IP, which of course, does not work out well.  Furthermore, even if you don't manually accidentally set two devices with the same IP, with DHCP on the router, it could give out that address to some random device, meaning you would need to configure router to not give out that address via DHCP, at which point you might as well just set the router to use DHCP reserved addresses.

Finally, a UPS on your router, modem, and eISY is never a bad idea.  A relatively small UPS could keep them running for many hours.
