srjacob Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM I have an ISY994 with the Elk module that I am trying to convert to an eisy. The ISY994 works great, and the only reason I am trying to do this is because the ISY994 has been discontinued and UD won't help me with problems (and there are a few). Anyway, I am finding the conversion difficult mainly due to what looks like software bugs in the firmware, the UI, and the store website. I have submitted tickets to UD via their ticket system. I get a reply in a couple of days, and the reply sometime asks for more information. I provide that information, and never hear from support again. Please Help! Steve Quote

Steve Hard to help without you providing details about what difficulties you are having. For starters are you following the instructions here: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/Eisy:User_Guide#Migration Be aware, to migrate from ISY994 to eisy, there are some minimum firmware requirements for the 994 that you must meet. Also, Elk module has been depreciated, you will need to move to the Elk plugin. 1 Quote
Brian H Posted yesterday at 12:19 PM Posted yesterday at 12:19 PM (edited) As you indicated. The ISY994i was discontinued a few years ago and the free and then paid support has expired. There are very knowledgeable users here. They maybe able to assist you if you have more details. The latest firmware for an ISY994i is 5.3.4 If you don't have it in the ISY994i now. What firmware on the 994 are you migrating from? What specific issues are you having? Quote
srjacob Posted yesterday at 02:18 PM Author Posted yesterday at 02:18 PM Here are the specific issues I am having. They all look like bugs on UDs part, but here they are anyway. These are copied directly from my tickets (where I can't get a response from UD). I just received the eisy and am trying to convert from an ISY994 with the Elk module. The ISY994 is running firmware 5.0.16C. The help files aren't very helpful. I have a number of questions: 1) I am trying to change the IP address to a static IP. When I go into the configuration, I see the checbox for Automatic (DHCP), but the UI won't allow me to uncheck it. How do I uncheck this check box so I can input a static IP? 2) When I go to the website to install the Elk plugin (yes, I know the difference between the Elk Module and the Elk plugin), I get an error when I try to purchase the plugin. The error message is: (in RED) AxiosError: Request failed with status code 404. As I asked before, how do I get the Elk plugin? 3) When I go to the Administrative Console, I see a strange thing happening in a lot of my scenes. This is shown in the attached image "eisy Insteon 1.jpg". The scene worked perfectly in my ISY994. 4) When I go to the LAN Administrative Console for my ISY994, I get the strange scene configuration. However, in the Administrative Console before I had the eisy connected in my network, the Administrative Console showed the correct information for the scene. I think the Administrative Console is being loaded from another site. What gives this away is when you clock on Help->About, the header is "Copyright 2004-2025 Universal Devices, Inc. All Rights Reserved. So the Administrative Console is later than my ISY994. How do I fix this? Note: All of the screenshots might look funny because I used Windows 11 screenshot to get them, and stored the file using Windows Paint. 41 minutes ago, DennisC said: Hundreds of us have managed to migrate without issues. Static IP addresses are no longer supported because of heavy support load when problems appear. However, you can still fix the IP address by using DHCP reservation in your router, which is a better way of fixing the IP address over static IP's. 9 minutes ago, srjacob said: When I go to the website to install the Elk plugin (yes, I know the difference between the Elk Module and the Elk plugin), I get an error when I try to purchase the plugin. Have you registered with the portal and approved it in eisy? Instructions are in the document I linked in my first post. All programs may need to be opened and saved after migrating, along with any network resources. Follow instructions in migration document above. I would suggest getting these issues cleared up before worrying about scenes. Also, changing from Elk module to Elk plugging, all Elk addresses will need to be updated. Quote
Guy Lavoie Posted yesterday at 02:32 PM Posted yesterday at 02:32 PM 1) Assigning a fixed IP address isn't supported anymore. I've seen several mentions that having a fixed IP address caused support issues (though I've never seen any mention of what the actual issue was). The current trick is to reserve an IP address for your device (MAC address) in your router, so that DHCP always assigns it the same IP address. 4) When you open the admin console from the IoX finder, are you selecting LAN or Cloud? Selecting cloud might have updated the version on your ISY994i Quote
Techman Posted yesterday at 02:38 PM Posted yesterday at 02:38 PM (edited) @srjacob Did you follow the migration instructions? Eisy:User Guide - Universal Devices, Inc. Wiki 1) The eisy doesn't support static IP addresses, however you can use a reserved address which will give you the same result. 2) You need to have the latest version of PG3x on your eisy. Do a upgrade packages on the eisy. The update may take time, up to 30 minutes. 3) After migration, some scenes and programs may need manual intervention 4) Did you clear your java cache, checking all 3 boxes, and download the latest version of IoX Launcher from here: https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp Edited yesterday at 03:41 PM by Techman Quote

I am selecting LAN (I know better than to select cloud). Now my ISY994 is using the latest Administrative Console (see a previous post). Quote
srjacob Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago NEW PROBLEM: I downloaded the latest version of IoX finder (after clearing the Java cache first-all 3, actually). when running the IoX finder, it found the old ISY994, but NOT the eisy (the eisy appeared in the DNS cache of the router). When I removed the ISY994 from the network (and powered it down), and re-ran the IoX Finder, it still showed the ISY994 and not the eisy. What is going on? I cleaned the Java cache and reran the IoX finder, same thing-eisy was not found. Quote
Techman Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Do you see the eisy's IP address in your router, if so then: In the Iox Launcher, click the add button, and enter https://(your eisy IP address)/desc Note: the router must support DHCP Quote

srjacob Posted 16 hours ago Author Posted 16 hours ago I tried that. I found the IP address in my routers DNS table. The IoX launcher couldn't find the eisy. This is all very frustrating. I just want to get the thing working. Quote

Techman Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I think your issue is either with your router or a firewall Do you have another computer that you could try? Do you have a VPN, if so is it off? Are you able to access the eisy via the admin console using HTTP://(your eisy ip address):8443/DESC Quote
