NodeLink on EISY and PG3

Featured Replies

Yesterday I migrated my ISY-994i over to an EISY.  I had previously used a PG1 level node server called NodeLink to communicate with my OWFS (OWLink) and my GenMon.  I have the NodeLink application running on a RPi.  I was under the impression that NodeLink would NOT work in EISY and PG3, which is why I was trying to use the MQTT node server.

However to my surprise, I found that if I added the port (:8080) to the end of the ISY IP address, the old NodeLink node server started communicating with PG3 and EISY as an unmanaged plugin.

Below is a screen shot of an Attic humidity and temperature sensor in EISY.  The GenMon Generator and ISY Data nodes are working as well.

HOW I MIGRATED TO EISY:
1. While still in ISY-994i, I created a backup.
2. I restored the 994i backup to the EISY.
3. Got everything working between the EISY and PG3.
4. I logged into the NodeLink interface running on the RPi and added the port (:8080) to the end of the IP address Nodelink is using to communicate with the ISY.  NodeLink started posting data to EISY!

I hope this helps anyone else wanting to upgrade to EISY but hesitating because of NodeLink.

Sincerely,
Emile Victory

I think the eisy compatibility news was that the nodelink software itself would not run on the eisy itself as a one system solution. But if it's running on a compatible arm system somewhere like an rpi, it should continue to work, backwards compatible with older pgx.

Thanks for the helpful, specific instructions!

@EVictory

Nodelink does work with eisy exactly the same as it did with previous versions.  If you use the same IP address and password for eisy as you did for your 994i nothing needs to be done at all, except perhaps restart nodelink.  I have it running on a rpi, working with my eisy just fine.  As Paul mentioned, you can't install nodelink on eisy, you need to continue to run it on your pi.  There were people hoping to run nodelink as a service on the eisy hardware, but no go there.

Nodelink is no longer under development and is only loosely supported by ioguy.  I would suggest you clone your rpi and store that somewhere secure so if something happens you can restore nodelink to a new sd card.

EDIT: I forgot about port 8080 vs port 80.  I switched from polisy, so I already was running port 8080.
