August 10Aug 10 I've been trying to add the Insteon Dimmer Outlet 2472DLAL to the EISY and keep getting the message "Cannot determine Insteon engine". Any suggestions on getting it to work?
August 10Aug 10 That response indicates the device isn't answering. Try rechecking the IP number watching for 0's that look like 8's and D's that look like 0's etc..
August 10Aug 10 Also, try it via telling iox to Start Linking, and go to the device and press the set button for 3 seconds to get it to go in to linking mode. Then go see if it shows up on iox and complete the add
August 11Aug 11 The 2472DAL is power line only. So you may want to try a dual band device in its unswitched outlet. So it may have an RF path to see it it changes anything. Though it sounds like one of the other solutions may fix the issue.
August 14Aug 14 Author @larryllix You nailed it. It was a 0 that looked like an 8. Thank you @Brian H and @paulbates
August 14Aug 14 Me too on the 0 with or without the dot. Early days of Insteon (dating myself again). They had paper stickers. The glue dried out and the sticker fell off. Sometimes getting lost.

Sometimes getting lost. I don't think I have ever seen an Insteon device that didn't use paper stickers that fall off. I am only dating my wife though.
