Alexa+? Work with Skill: "ISY Optimized for v3"?

Has anyone upgraded their Alexa to Alexa+?

I've been getting emails from Amazon to "Upgrade to free Early Access" (of Alexa+).

I don't want to have any issues with the "ISY Optimized for v3" Alexa skill that I use to control my ISY devices -- so want to make sure everything will work fine before I update (which I assume might be difficult to go back to regular Alexa).

Thanks.

Stuart Crane

I've been using Alexa+ for a few months. It controls the ISY devices just as before. However, Alexa+ doesn't store information locally as the Alexa does. I've noticed that running routines with Alexa+ takes a bit longer to get responses.

Interesting.

I was thinking about upgrading but might not be worth it due to slower response times.

While this response time might improve I was also thinking they will probably charge for the service in the future, and reverting to the OG service could be an issue.

If it ain’t broke…

Even with the slower response times, I wouldn't switch back. Alexa+ does so much more today, and I'm sure she'll do more as they work everything out.

I'm having a (albeit small) problem with using "Alexa Plus":

when I ask it to turn on my kitchen lights, which are connected through Eisy to the Portal to Alexa.

"I'm not quite sure what went wrong with the kitchen lights".   THE LIGHTS WORK, but I get this message every time.

any suggestions?   I submitted feedback to Alexa Plus but that may not accomplish anything.

I’ve received this message as well, though only a few times — not enough to determine whether it’s coming from the same device each time. Could this possibly be related to Alexa+ relying more on internet-based communication rather than local communication?

I am getting similar messages, and with other skills too. Like Alexa+ can still turn off my Roku but it afterwards it still says it’s having problems controlling Roku.

I’m also getting this as well. I’m not sure how to address it and whether it’s a Alexa problem or a portal problem. I didn’t notice while using the Alexa app. If I clicked on that particular device that’s giving me an issue at the top. It says that it has a server error.

I have some new information after talking to Amazon customer support. They said there are many issues using Alexa plus with the ISY. The best way to recover is to go back to standard and you have to get on customer service to ask them to remove Alexa, plus.

I wasn’t going to upgrade, as I had posted my reservations earlier, but when I came home from work on Friday, my wife had upgraded.

So far everything‘s working, but I mostly have Insteon devices controlling lights and a few smart plugs from Amazon and Athom (MQTT via PG3).
