November 6Nov 6 I have the eisy and just installed a fanlinc. I want to control it using a wireless keypad. Is there a easy tutorial to follow. I added the wireless keypad and it shows buttons being paired, a-b c-d e-f. G-h. Doesnt come up as buttons a b c d e f g h
November 6Nov 6 If you want to be able to select the various fan speeds, you'll need to use programs. I have a mini remote that does this. Here is one of my programs:Ceiling ON - [ID 00A3][Parent 0082]If 'Mini Bedroom E-F' is switched OnThen Set 'C10 Fanlinc motor' MediumThe response delay can be annoying, but you can have any button do any function. November 6Nov 6 @diggler I believe you set it up as a 4 button remote. When adding to insteon if you set it up as an 8 button you will get the A B C D E F G H definions in the Eisy then program it as Guy has posted.
November 6Nov 6 Author I got it to work. Changed the mini remote from scen to toggle. Then made a scene for off high and medium. Assigned each button to its scene and selected the motor speed.
November 6Nov 6 @diggler glad you got it sorted out. If you really want to get crazy with the programming the wiki has some good details on this:https://wiki.universal-devices.com/ISY994i:INSTEON_Device:FanLinc-KPL_FanLinc_KeypadLinc_ConfigurationIt was a length discussion a few years ago about the "ideal" way to program fanlinc and keypadlinc. Mini remotes are a whole other story as I don't think they'll report the status of the fanlinc if it's adjusted with another device. I don't have remotes so have never tried to program them.

Have groups of lights on different switches i will control as well as the fanlinc
November 6Nov 6 Using a mini-remote in 8 button non-toggle mode is pretty easy since you just need create 4 scenes (assuming off, low, med, high) then add the button you want to control each speed to each of those scenes as a controller (and of course put the fan in as a responder at that speed). The simplicity of the mini remote is that it doesn't back light the buttons so you don't need to set anything as a responder. The issue here is that you will have 4 other buttons that are also all non-toggle buttons and you might not find it easy to use those to control other things. Pressing the button will simply send an "on" command with each press. So if you want to control a light, you would need to make 2 scenes to be able to turn it on and off. One scene with button A for example to turn it on (set the light as a responder with on-level as "on") and a second scene to turn it off with button B as the controller (set the light as a responder but set the on level to "off").
