Wednesday at 09:18 PM3 days I have a 2477D switch that comes as not able to communicate when I open the admin console. I can control the switch from the admin console and UD mobile. However, it's not working when controlled by a program.. I've restored the switch twice with the same results. Any ideas would be appreciated. My second issue is with a mini remote switch. It added just fine and works as it should. However, every time I open the admin consoles i get a message that this switch was added. Is there a way to eliminate that message?Thank you!
Wednesday at 09:47 PM3 days Well if the switch works from admin console, then it's linked properly. Try listing the program here (copy text to clipboard) and post it here.

However, every time I open the admin consoles i get a message that this switch was added. Is there a way to eliminate that message?Thank you!The older isy994 included a program that would query "My Lighting" at 3:00 AM to re-synchronize the system. I am guessing that the EISY has the same program. If a device does not respond during the system query your will get a "Cannot Communicate With XX.XX.XX. Please check connections" when you open the Admin Console. This sounds like what you are seeing on the 2477D. Since you can control it from the Admin Console/UD Mobile it sounds like the device is somewhat intermittent. You may have a noise source/signal absorber that is active at night and is interfering with communications. Open your Event Viewer and set to Level 3. Perform a "Query" from the admin console. It should look something like the following. The "Hops Left=3" in the communication below shows the message is being received on the 1st Hop (very good). If the Hops Left were to be 0 that would be marginal.Thu 11/13/2025 08:56:10 AM : [INST-TX-I1 ] 02 62 54 A1 F5 0F 19 00 Thu 11/13/2025 08:56:10 AM : [INST-ACK ] 02 62 54.A1.F5 0F 19 00 06 LTSREQ (LIGHT) Thu 11/13/2025 08:56:10 AM : [INST-SRX ] 02 50 54.A1.F5 53.BC.3A 2F 00 00 (00) Thu 11/13/2025 08:56:10 AM : [Std-Direct Ack] 54.A1.F5-->ISY/PLM Group=0, Max Hops=3, Hops Left=3 The fact that you cannot control the device from your program MAY be because you are using a scene. Scene control on the ISY does not verify that the device responded. It issues the command and assumes it succeeded. Commands sent from the Admin console are "Device Direct" and do verify the communications. I am not familiar with the error you are getting on the mini remote switch. It's possible that the add process didn't finish completely and the ISY is continuing to retry the addition. Could you post the model of the remote and the exact error message that you're receiving?

It needs to be created by the user if they want it to be available again. 19 hours ago, dbuss said:Is there a way to eliminate that message? How far are you from other Insteon devices? Maybe remove it and bring it closer to the PLM and add it again. I don't have any mini remotes so not sure how they work if they're not within a decent range of other dual band devices.

I should probably know that by now, but some things just don't stick.I'm still thinking the 2477D issue sounds like an intermittent communication problem.
Friday at 06:07 PM1 day Author @Geddy @IndyMike @Guy Lavoie I appreciate all the suggestions on these two issues. Regarding the 2477D switch. I discovered why the programs weren't working...they were both disabled. I have some programs that for some reason get disabled and I've yet to discover why. I've done the event viewer test and there are three hops left. The device queries just fine. The only thing that I'm experiencing is when I start the admin consoles it says it can't communicate with that switch.Regarding the 2342-242 mini remote. I performed a restore, but it didn't resolve the issue of when the admin starts I get the message that that mini remote was added. Again, it performs as expected. I think I will factory reset the mini remote and re-add it.Thanks again for all your suggestions.

It was noise in my system. I have one switch that's on a wall in a room not too far from the PLM, but it would randomly say unable to communicate when I launched admin console. A simple query would recover the device. Found out when two other devices were plugged in it created noise to that location. The devices were an iPad charger brick and the Somfy MyLink. When the MyLink was plugged into a different outlet and the iPad wasn't charging there wasn't an issue. Silly, but was the result to my issue. Neither device was new to the equation, but moving both resolved the random happening for me.Is your communication notice issue 100% of the time? 4 hours ago, dbuss said:I think I will factory reset the mini remote and re-add it.Maybe be sure to remove it from the system before you factory restore it so IoX doesn't think it's already in the system.
