23 hours ago23 hr Hello,I had a 2476ST go bad and replaced it with a 2477S. When trying to add a new insteon device the ISY Admin Console says "Cannot determine Insteon engine"It is a larger system and was in a remote building so I un-installed it and wired it into the plug next to the PLM. Same result. So I tried another new 2477S I had, in both places, same result. So, just for fun I tried a third new switch, 2477S, I had, this time only hardwired next to the PLM, still same result. The last switch in the test series was a 2477S Rev 7.0My ISY is 5.3.4My system has multiple other 2477S switches, never had an issue.Help.
22 hours ago22 hr I would try the alternative add method:Wire one of the new switches upFrom the linking menu, put iox in linking modePress the set buttonYou should see iox recognize it and press finish
1 hour ago1 hr Author Update. The above method did not work for the installed switch (found the switch but could not identify the engine) but did work for the second switch.FYI, Across 2 systems at 2 locations (100's of switches and devices) since the beginning of Insteon/ISY I have never had to do this. I started with X-10 in the 1980's.
1 hour ago1 hr A next step will be to capture what's going on with the Event Viewer.Get the switch wired up to testIn iox - Tools/Diagnostics/Event viewerIn the event viewer window at the bottom, set for level 3With the event window open, go to the linking menu and repeat the steps for either method of adding the switchSaved the results and post it back hereWe have folks here that are experienced translating those logs into English and hopefully one of them will chime in Edited 1 hour ago1 hr by paulbates
