I've been away from any change to my Insteon system for years. Ten years ago I walked unawares into the limit on links in the PLM. Is it still true that all of the PLMs and Insteon Hubs have the 992 link limit?

Thanks!

At a Insteon call early in the year or late last year, it was announced that the upgraded PLM was coming out "in summer of this year" 25.

Summer came and went. One of our members, I think Brian H, asked them recently if it was coming and told no.

just wondering???

Since the hub does not require a PLM the only use case for a better hub would be for 3rd party folks like ISY etc. Wouldn't it make more sense for insteon to invest their $$ in hub 3 instead.

Well their hub has the PLM built-in, and I suspect that much of the PLM software part of their hub is very similar to the stand-alone PLM. I also speculate that hub-only based installations would tend to be at the smaller end of system sizes, so the need for a larger link table would not be very common. That said, if their new hub will add if/then functionality and otherwise aim for larger systems (and dare I say: compete with the eisy), then they might have an interest in keeping the increased capacity for themselves, at least initially.

Just some random thoughts.

Per Insteon, there's no release date set for the new PLM. It doesn't appear to be in the foreseeable future.

I reached out to Insteon about six weeks ago to ask about the status of their rumored new PLM. The comment I received back from their support folks was:

"There are plans to release a new PLM with increased memory and enhanced capability. The module has already undergone testing, though a few items are still being refined before production. While we don’t yet have a confirmed release or availability date, it remains an active item on our development roadmap."

So no date set, but it was still on the roadmap as of early November.
