New UD Mobile install on Android… spinning blue icon

Featured Replies

I am setting up UD Mobile on a new Android install and have noticed some issues.

The first Issue is the EISY Controller did not set up properly. It did not recognize the proper portal name and local settings were all blank. I think I resolved this by deleting that automatically installed controller and then went through and installed it manually to essentially match all the setup to be consistent with my UD Mobile setup on my iPhone.

With that issue resolved I went to setup the User Preferences and the app is not allowing me to access any of the fields as it is starting with a spinning blue icon in the middle of the screen and it just keeps spinning.

I have not tried to do much else, as I would like to resolve this first. Suggestions?

Sounds like you either do not have eisy properly setup with the portal, or you are not following the directions for UD Mobile.

If you go to the portal, is your eisy shown as online and is it licensed?

To properly setup UD Mobile follow the user guide:

@DennisC Let me see if I can answer your questions clearly. First off, I have UD Mobile running on iOS and that configuration works on WiFi in the house and on Cell when out side the house.

When I go to Safari on the iPhone or my desktop I can log into the Portal without issues and the EISY shows connected to the Portal and online. License is current and active.

When I go to the Android device and go to Settings -> App Settings -> Controller -> EISY, I can see the portal setup fully populated with the EISY UUID populated, the remote connection settings populated with my portal account and the remote url also correct. All the local connections are populated and the System Network Relations populated with my WiFi credentials. The local connection works.

I have gone through the UD Mobile guide multiple times and if there is something that I am missing for the setup, I have not discovered it yet for this Android installation

With the current state of the Android setup… all of the devices have populated on Home Tab; I can enter favorites (so far just a few, as they all need to be redone as iOS backup can not be used); Automations all populated except for variable which are only showing numbers not the variable names (others are reporting this too).

But, when I click on User Preferences on the Settings Tab, I see the actual form, but you can not touch as it is locked with this spinning blue icon in the center screen.

I will go through the UD Mobile document again tomorrow, but if any thoughts come to mind let me know and I will give it a try.

When I was writing the last post, I realized that I had not updated the EISY for a while. So, I did that this morning. I had been getting some error relating to nodes when I was syncing... considering other issues I was trying to resolve it didn't seem high enough priority to mention. However, after updating the EISY, those errors related to nodes that showed on sync, stopped.

However, when I go to bring up the User Preferences in Settings -> App Settings -> I still get the spinning blue icon in the center of the screen and I am unable to change any of the settings within the User Preferences. Same thing happens if I bring up User Preferences from the Home Tab.

Also, still only seeing numbers for all the variables in the Automations Tab.

in a browser and check which version of udx you currently have installed. If it is less than 4.2.0, run upgrade packages again. If it is at least v4.2.0, then open a support ticket with UD and let @Javi take a look at your issue.

Since I updated this morning, I am running:

udx-4.4.0

Name : udx

Version : 4.4.0

Installed on : Mon Dec 29 08:57:49 2025 EST

I will submit a ticket.
