Problem writing extended commands to 2442-222

Featured Replies

I replaced my 10 year old micro dimmer recently with a new one . eisy can communicate with it (turns it off/on, brighten/dim works). But it seems that anything using an extended command is not working. For example, if I try to set the On level to 50%, nothing happens to the light and eisy device status remains at 100%. I've tried setting the on-level from a scene and that doesn't work either - the on-level stays at 100%.

I'm on 6.0.3. I'm attaching an event log that shows me doing the following:

  • Device on, then off

  • Set on level to 50%

  • Write changes

  • Turn device on (it's still at 100%)

  • Change the On value to 50%; device stays at 100%) & there is no traffic in the log for doing this

I've debugged for a while. Rebooted the device. Not sure what else to try.

Maybe something is wrong with the unit. Have you factory reset it?

I had 2 of these I bought a couple of years ago and the on level could be set by scene and remotely faded up and down from another switch.

This is a longstanding "bug" (UI difference) that started in IoX 5.x many years ago. After you set the percent you need to hit the button NEXT to that value. This goes for most the options like on level, ramp rate, and backlight. Write changes is not doing what you think it should (I think it's mostly for battery devices). I don't ever click "write changes".

There's also a UI issue that sometimes might not always show what the level you have set will be. That usually is for the backlight setting though (if I recall correctly).

Also, please update your system. It will help keep things current and fix any unexpected issues otherwise. See the information in the current release area: https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/46475-updated-software-available/

A factory reset before installation has fixed issues for some users. Some had test stuff in them and not reset before sales.

@Geddy Thank you for your help. The system update along with the UI quirk solved this for me. Other than doing the upgrade when IoX came out, I haven't spent much time using it.
