FlumeWater - Water Flow GPM Data

Featured Replies

I have a Flume water meter set up and I would like to use this node server to feed information into my leak detection system on EISY.

I see no recent activity since 2024.
Please let me know if you are using this node server and how well it's working for you.

It should work, but my meter was upgraded to one that Flume did not support, and now I no longer even live there and I had a MoenFlo installed at my new home so I haven't used the Flume in a long time. If there are issues I will try to help but as far as I know it should work.

my water company told me to buy a flume a few years back. Then a couple years later they came through and replaced meters with one that flume doesn't read. Very annoyed. They actually left the old meter, so my plan ultimately when I have the time is to put the old meter back in after their meter so I can use my flume again. We really liked the flume a lot. The water co app is just terrible. It tells you about potential leaks like a day after it happens. All of these leaks they have warned us about aren't leaks, but if they were, it would have been far too late for their warning to have done any good.

Anyway, Flume worked great with ISY until about a year ago when I had to uninstall the flume.

I have used a Flume Sensor with my eisy / FlumeWater PG3 plug-in for years. I have three programs which set/reset a Leak Detected State Variable based on values from the FlumeWater plug-in. The Flume plug-in reports a leak detected via the plug-in for a 2 hr low flow leak and a 15 minute high flow leak setting my Leak Detected Variable Flag to 1. These events defined and set up using the flume app usage alerts. I have a second program that sets the Leak Detected Variable Flag is the plug-in reports a sustained curren flow > 6 GPM for 30 minutes (this could be defined in the flume app instead). This later program will set the flag if one of my irragation valves gets stuck on (the majority of my irrigation zones run sequentially and don't take more than 30 minutes to complete). The third program resets the the Leak Detected State Variable to 0 when the plubgin reports that sensor Leak Detected is False.

The Leak Detected State Variable is used to turn a Z-Wave Water Shutoff Ball Valve On or Off accrording the Leak Detected State Variable using another eisy program. The eisy also generates notifications to UD Mobile based on the status of this variable.

My experience has been good with this setup. I have only experienced the Water Shutoff being triggered by a tap that had a small drip and also by a toilet flapper valve that was leaking and needed to be replaced during the past 3 years or so.
