Trigger a Program in Mobile; no device in "If"

Featured Replies

I control the Garage door open/close 2 ways.

Manually triggering by way of a 2450 relay from UD Mobile.

Also, a Program that opens the door, waits a few minutes then closes it. Also by UD Mobile. No problem.

However for the latter, to do so a device was necessary for the "If" statement of the program. I couldn't find a way from UD Mobile to trigger the Program without it. I don't want a physical switch that might be mistakenly pressed leading to problems. I used a 2635-222 On/Off Module to trigger from Mobile. It works, but it's a clumsy costly approach.

I'd like to merely invoke the Program from a Mobile tile.

Thoughts? Thanks

You could use the Virtual plugin to create a "switch" that appears in UD Mobile, and write a program that does what you want if the switch is turned on, etc

Ditto what Guy said. It’s what I do for many automations. One question are you wanting to create a favorite tile in UDM so you do it in one step? If so, virtual device plugin is way to go if not you can use Run Then from the program itself.

Maybe I am not understanding your situation, but you can create a favorite tile in UD Mobile that when activated will run the "then" clause of a disabled program. There would be no need for anything to be in the "if" section of the program.

You all rock! Amazingly speedy cogent advice! I successfully implemented it already.

Thanks so much!

Thanks but I don't see how this works. I tried to Favorite a Program but it doesn't run it.

I believe, to define a program as a favorite, one must pick "command" as the type of favorite. After filling in the basic favorite fields, UD mobile will prompt you for the command. At this point you pick the node (the program in this case) and the command to execute (run if, run then, run else). At least, this is how I have done it and it seems to work for me.

Start with the instructions and if you run in to a problem, post a question about a specific issue:
