Sunrise/Sunset Off w/ Time Change

Featured Replies

In confirming all of my clocks are adjusted for the end of DST, I have also checked both of my eisy's and both were reflecting the correct time but the sunrise and sunset times are indicating 1 hour earlier than actual. I have confirmed this is consistent on both of my eisy's and also indicating incorrectly in both eisy-ui and AC. Both units are fully up-to-date, correct location and timezones are selected in configuration, and I even initiated a reboot on both, without success. Maybe this will update to reflect the correct times once the day rolls over again at midnight? I have a few programs that rely on sunrise/sunset so hopefully can get resolved fairly quickly.

Twice a year this topic arises. Give it an extra day and (if your experience matches mine) it will fix itself.

Some of us may never seen another time-change, as some jurisdictions move to Permanent Time in one form or another

Calgary Alberta Canada moved to permanent Daylight Time, my fix was to move my EISY location to Regina Canada.

Had to use the AC as well because changes in EisyUI wouldn't stick. It kept reverting back to the original location of Edmonton.

I thought the underlying Unix OS would have handled the change.

Oh well...

I just noticed the sunrise sunset times early and off different increments in my Eisy.

Sunrise is one hour early, sunset is one hour 27 minutes early.

The time change did occur correctly.

I have not ever noticed this before but was not paying attention.

I am happy to wait a day or two and look for it to magically correct.

Thank you all for posting.

I am in US Salt Lake City time zone on staging repo (1.4.8). Time change was correct. Sunrise/Sunset times are both an hour early.

Rebooting eisy did not change display. Not surprisingly, sunrise and sunset are also an hour early in AC.

added reboot and ac info.

Eastern Time Zone on production repo 1.4.6. System time changed with no issues. The sunrise and sunset times on the graphic on the configuration page are an hour early, but my programs that run at sunset have the correct next run time, so go figure.

So,

Even though sunrise and sunset times are out of wack as stated earlier, all of my sunset triggered programs ran correctly.

If I had not been paying attention, I would not have known that there was an issue.

I am confident that this "non-issue" will clear up without a trip into a rabbit hole.

Thank you all!

I was happy to see that after rolling over to the next day, the issue has corrected as you stated and I have experienced in the past. I was just thinkig that initial time-change inconsistency may have been resolved with all of the new/recent firmware developments so was surprised to see it still occurs as it previously had but glad to see it corrected.

Though not related to software.

My Radio Shack Atomic Clock did not change on 11/01/2027 but was correct this morning

@stillwater are the lat/long coordinates correct for your location?

My timezone doesn't exist in most databases because it's so new - officially called Alberta Time. UD Michel provided the tip.

So I had to use Saskatchewan CST timezone, enter my location coordinates for Calgary and turn off the DST Rule to get my time and sunrise/sunset working properly.

Basically it's a custom timezone.

@mmb The lat/long was/is correct. Today the sunrise/sunset times are displaying correctly on the eisy.ui configuration page. I don't know if this is because of some invisible software update (as mentioned by someone in the forum) or whether it just took a day for the sunrise/sunset times to display correctly (as mentioned by others).

I had a caching issue with my changes. Cleared and it displayed properly.
