Universal Remote - ISY and Global Cache with Ipod

Ok, so here is what I want to do. I would appreciate anybody's expert opinions. I currently have the ISY and it works great. I have a couple of Ipod touches and use the TouchSwitch app to control insteon.

I would like to do the following:

- Have the ability to use the Ipod touch as a universal remote control for TV AND control insteon - preferably on the same screen or "remote" on the ipod touch using some app

I've been looking at this app called Bobby using the Global Cache hardware. Would this accomplish what I want? So the Bobby app would have a "remote" on the Ipod touch screen. This remote could include buttons to control the tv and buttons to control my insteon devices (which I'm thinking would route from the global cache through the ISY?)

Is that a correct assumption? If not, how could I accomplish this? (what hardware and what app for the Ipod touch)

Thanks!!

Hello osullys,

I let Burak talk about TouchSwitch. But, here are my comments:

1. Since you already have Network Module, then all you have to do is to create rules in the network module to communicate with GC (I do not think you need Bobby)

2. In TouchSwitch, under settings, add buttons that call the Network Resources. This way, you can use your iPod to control all rules pointing to GC

With kind regards,

Michel

Thanks Michael. That helps. I feel like maybe I still would get Bobby. It seems to be more customizable to look and feel like an actual TV remote. You can move buttons around and position them (not just in a grid format). At least that is how it appears anyway.

Can you program Insteon AND TV buttons on the Bobby app to communicate through the Global Cache hardware and pass into the ISY? I'm guessing the ISY plugs into the Global Cache?

Hi osullys,

The ISY sends commands to the GlobalCache over your Local Area Network (LAN) via your router. The ISY would need to receive IR commands from the GC.
