Michel Kohanim Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Hi, On Monday (02/28/2011) we shall have our 3.x beta cycle starting which includes variables (3.0.0). Although ELK will not be in 3.0.0, but it will be included in one of the releases in this cycle. With kind regards, Michel
Quixote Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 WOOHOO! lol This is so exciting! Variables AND the Elk plugin? Wait... I must be dreaming.
Quixote Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Hi, On Monday (02/28/2011) we shall have our 3.x beta cycle starting which includes variables (3.0.0). Although ELK will not be in 3.0.0, but it will be included in one of the releases in this cycle. With kind regards, Michel Does this mean that a two-way network module upgrade is on the horizon? I could be wrong, but it seems like this would be necessary for the Elk plugin. That would be awesome. Since I bought the network module, I haven't used it for a single thing.
brad77 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Does this mean that a two-way network module upgrade is on the horizon? I could be wrong, but it seems like this would be necessary for the Elk plugin. Although ELK support would require two way network communication, it isn't necessarily a trivial thing to take that and abstract it to the point where it would be useful in a variety of HTTP/XML/Web Service scenarios. In fact, setting up a simple, yet powerful tool to do such a thing could be a downright hairy thing to design. Don't get me wrong. I'd love to see it too, but not if it causes any delay with the ELK integration!
Michel Kohanim Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Hi Guys, Yes (two way is planned) and no: we are going to do ELK FIRST. With kind regards, Michel
Quixote Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Yes (two way is planned) and no: we are going to do ELK FIRST. Okay okay... you don't have to yell.
polexian Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I'm getting impatient.. Could we have yet another update?
Michel Kohanim Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Hi Polexian, Me too! Yes, sure: we are working on it day and night (well, part of night). The reason for the delay is that we had to make incremental changes for seamless integration and not a one-off solution. You will see most of the incremental changes reflected in our WSDK and how we handle things. I do apologize for it taking so long ... again, this is what we are currently working on as we speak. With kind regards, Michel
apostolakisl Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 So, does that mean it won't be a module but rather a feature by feature addition to the standard firmware upgrades? And if so, what will be the first features and when might we see them?
Michel Kohanim Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Hello apostolakisl, It will surely be a module but we had to add foundations to support security systems. This is something that we did not have before. With kind regards, Michel
Steigs Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 The reason for the delay.. Who cares. You guys are going to do what you do and release it when you release it and it's gonna be well worth the wait.
Michel Kohanim Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Hello Steigs, Thanks so very much for your vote of confidence. It really does mean a LOT to all of us. With kind regards, Michel
bTwix Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Glad to hear the Elk integration is coming along. Looking forward to the module release. Thanks for the hard work!
sanders2222 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Although ELK will not be in 3.0.0, it will be included in one of the releases in this cycle. In 3.1.3 perhaps?
pdmjr Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Hi - new to posting but do have a question - this module that you speak of will be a 2 way? It sounds as if it may work with other security systems, DSC GE Ademco ect which has many more users. Will each system need a serial module installed on the bus of the security system? Most of the panels have this option. Just thinking out loud here. Thanks Peter
Michel Kohanim Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Hi Peter, Yes, it will be two way. The design is generic so, theoretically, we should be able to support other security systems. Communications must be through a serial to Ethernet device. With kind regards, Michel
tpolito Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 So that means I should be able to interface with my HAI Omni IIe panel? That would be great news!
apostolakisl Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Well, it has been another month since someone asked this question, so I will venture there again, even though I think I know the answer. When can we expect the module?
Michel Kohanim Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Hello apostolakisl, I am scared to say soon since all my promises have been in vain. All I can say is that ELK is the only thing (apart from bug fixes and minor enhancements) we are working on now. With kind regards, Michel
ryarber Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 A watched pot never boils. And I've been watching this one very closely. I would again suggest a twitter account so we can be notified about releases that way instead of having to check here. It would certainly cut down on my bandwidth needs. Thanks.
Michel Kohanim Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Hello ryarber, Tweeter is on our list of things to do. We just have to figure out the expectations and who'll be responsible for it. With kind regards, Michel
ryarber Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Hello ryarber, Tweeter is on our list of things to do. We just have to figure out the expectations and who'll be responsible for it. With kind regards, Michel What I would expect from it would be very simple. A tweet saying new beta or module releases are available with a link to the web page or forum post that describes the release.
Michel Kohanim Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Hi ryarber, Working on it ... With kind regards, Michel
