I had the same thing happen. I tried a bunch of things, contacted Smarthome, they tried a few things and eventually replaced the 2420M. I also had the low battery warning on continuously.

Sorry for your troubles, but glad to see that it isn't only me ;)

...Also (and clearly not related to 2.8.6) I found one of my motion sensors 2420M v1.1 has gone crazy...as if the sensor is seeing motion after every 30 second time out period. Took it down from the wall and tested found testing with new battery in a dark drawer its bad behavior continue.

On ISY consul status would show "on" for 30 seconds then blink "off" then return to "on". Thousands of lines in log ...

Have pulled the battery and will let it sit for a while then retry.

For the record, one of my motion sensors also gave a low battery indication a couple of months ago. [As a side note, that indication will remain in the ISY console until it is cleared.] However, the motion sensor continued to function fine. I decided to leave it alone until the sensor stopped functioning properly (battery drained).

A week or two ago that happened, and in the same way as described above... the motion would continuously send ON commands on the sensor group. I have seen this exact behaviour from X-10 motion sensors when the battery is low--continuous ON commands--but haven't seen it reported for an INSTEON motion sensor until this thread.

When this happened, I removed the old battery, waited somewhere between one and two minutes (until the minutes on a digital clock had advanced by two), and installed the new battery. Motion sensor now working fine.
