Release 2.8.11 Is Now Available

I tried both links below from my Laptop (different AV) and was able to successfully log-on and see the manual upgrade option. Obviously something on my other machine is causing an issue. Thanks to all for the responses & suggestions.

For those that do not show 2.8.10 after update, after clearing the Java cache, did you invoke the 2.8.11 Admin Console from the UDI web site to do the actual manual update?

i've been updated my ISY the same way I have always done per the instructions, which the version reporting problem started occurring with 2.8.10 betas.

1. backup system

2. manually update

3. exit all browsers and download managers

4. open java control panel to clear cache

5. clear browser cache

6. launch browser and enter url http://192.168.xx.xx/admin

I have tried to perform upgrades from safari on a mac successfully in the past, but following the same procedure when i launch the admin console it hangs or never opens the credentials dialog and had to kill the safari process. only upon a second launch of safari of the admin console does the creds dialog get displayed, but then some of the isy pages are not displayed properly. this seemed to start happening with 2.8.10 betas. thus i have resorted to only performing updates via my W7 64-bit client. I am starting to wonder if there is a compatibility problem with 64-bit OSs running 32-bit java, and the ISY update process.

FYI, I bricked two Elk M1 Golds trying to perform firmware updates using the ElkRP application running on my W7 64-bit client. I have received reports from others about other problems using the Elk RP application on W7 64-bit as well. I've given up making Elk firmware updates until i create a windows xp VM for such tasks.

Everything went great but now i am having problems of errors coming up saying cannot communicate with motion sensor. with the console open i can walk around the house go back to the computers and have a error for each ms on the screen that cannot communicate. Never had this before. Any Ideas?

Do you have small green icons to the left of the motion sensor node entries in the My Lighting tree?

It sounds like there are pending updates to the motion sensors which cannot be completed until they are put into linking mode and a Write Updates to Device is performed.

If you can run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer and select Device Communications Events. Post the event output after walking past an MS. Perhaps by looking at the commands executed we can tell what is happening.

Heres the event viewer is there a way to get this to sort when saved i open it up and everything is just together and it takes forever to go thru and pick the day and hit enter to make everything go line by line.

I had cleared the event viewer and was checking email and the error came up again so i saved and pasted here. sorry for so much but it ran the time alot and don't know why. the 14.1b.2e is the ms which is not linked to anything it runs a program after 10pm to sunrise

At 05:23:20 PM a sequence from 13.ED.1A starts. This looks like a motion sensor motion On.

What is 13.ED.1A ?

13.ed.1a is laundry room ms i think the scene is outside lighting at sunset which is close to that time last run time is 5:35 and everything else in last run time is a least 1/2 or more before or after that time period. the motion sensor 14.1b.2e is outside and is also set to send dusk/ dawn commands. the program is set for either the motion sensor or sunset time to trigger which ever comes first.

There is a 0x46 command sent to a motion sensor. My OLD command document lists that as an I/O command and the Event Viewer trace tags the command as IOOFF

FYI - I also get random screen pop ups stating "unable to communicate" with motion sensors on 2.8.10. They go away and I haven't paid much attention to them. I didn't think in regular use the ISY should be trying to communicate with a motion, just receiving.

I think this motion sensor issue it what's been plaguing my setup. I disabled all of my Motion Sensors since version 2.8.x, because the PLM or ISY would eventually lockup. Since I've removed them, the system seems to be much more stable.

I hope the team finds a solution, it would be great to re-enable my MS's

Would you please go to your programs and do a Find for all your motion sensors? Please let me know if you have any motion sensors in the Action section of any of your programs.

For those who cannot upgrade: please NOTE that you will have to use http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.10/ or http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.10/admin.jnlp (or 2.8.11). You CAN NOT use your current version coming from ISY.

For future versions, this should not be a problem.

Polexian, no, this is not a bug. We did verify that we are sending the correct message/command. The LED brightness works ONLY on SWLs with BEEP. It does not work on others.

Please notice this is a Beta release.

The AutoUpdate for the next official release should work as usual (or we will fire the programmers!)

I followed the exact instructions at the beginning of this thread but part way through the update process I get a pop that says ...........

"Upgrade Failed:Failed uploading file (reported written size is invalid)"

I have tried the update sequence three times with the same results.

1. I notice (after upgrading to 2.8.11) when the email (email user id) account settings is incorrect and I add a "notice" to a program; it fails the whole program. e.g. nothing work for that program.

2. I notice also that the whole server is unstable after that. e.g. does not response to turn on or off properly and display wrong info for the on/off status for individual switches A reboot fixed this after I entries a proper email user id.

Still not working.

Actually even if the email info is correct it is still unstable and program don't work properly. Statuses are incorrect, devices don't respond all the time, and scheduled programs execute.

I took out the email settings for now. We'll see how it goes.
