My box started acting up.

First, I noticed that the programs were not functioning, when I went to check it using the browser, I noticed that the programs were not there(I had about 15 program). I then did a restore, then it crashed and would not reboot or reconnect

PWR, RX, TX green lights on and error red light flashing.

I did multiple hard resets and factory reset with pushpin, and same results.

(no communication with box thru shell or browser)

I removed the memory card and reformat,

same result with error ligths, but after multiple times, somehow I got it to do a factory reset, loaded new firmware, then restored from backup. all working fine, and then when I tried to reset, it did the same thing, same error lights

I repeated the formatting and after multiple resets, was able to get it communicating and working again. i let it sit overnight, unplug power and then same results. Error lights again.

I had the system stable and untouched for a few months and all of the sudden this. Any ideas??

thanks

I can't help, but had something similar happen today. I was setting up notifications rebooted and couldn't get in,so I went to look at the isy and error and memory lights flashing. I tried reboot nothing and have no backup so I am not sure if im going to loose everything with a factory reset. :(:(

Thanks so very much LeeG, you are right ON!

joefly, I think you have a defective SD Card. Please submit a ticket and we'll send you a replacement immediately. In the meantime, please let me know if you have any green 01010 icons.

Diesel1, yours is different simply because you had both Error and Mem lights blinking. This means that you network issues: i.e. ISY cannot get to your router or is not able to get an IP address. Please make sure ISY is connected to your router.

With kind regards,

Michel

LeeG, I have read the manual and did not run across any comments about not doing any factory resets? Out of curiosity what is the reason for this?

Michel, I did notice a 1010 icon on one device, I did a query and nothing, I did a rewrite and got a error message about inability to write to device.

I did try a different SD card one time but it was a 256MB card, and if I recall correctly, I believe I got the same result, so I assumed it was not the SD card and went back to the original. I need to confirm this again.

How do I submit a ticket for a replacement card? if you still believe this is the problem. I will test with my 256MB card if you need me to do it again..

Thanks.

UPDATE: I just reformatted (FAT32 on win7) both 256MB card and the original 512MB cards and both gave me same results. I also did a chkdsk on the original card and seem like all the sectors were ok, but it said something about time stamp not valid on the files.

There are various posts on the forum by UDI folks urging not to factory reset the ISY as that action is rarely useful in solving a problem. Also the user guide says about the same thing. From the user guide ....

"In most cases, a factory reset will not help any problems you might be having. Please be sure to thoroughly investigate your problem before trying a factory reset."

Factory resetting an Insteon device has become one of the first things done when a device problem is encountered. Clears unwanted configuration and gets the device back to a known state. Resetting the ISY is not like resetting other Insteon devices. It should be done only after discussing the problem with UDI folks (IMO)..
