Recently the forum has not been working well for me. I frequently get "internet explorere can't display this page" or it just takes forever to load, or I get some sort of database error "phpBB database failed" or something similar to that.

Has the forum switched servers? Or maybe it needs to switch servers? Or maybe there is something at my end, but this is the only webpage that is being flaky.

Edit: Now I am trying to load this page for the second time becuase the first time I got an "internet explorer can't display this page"

The phpBB errors of various types have been occurring for some time here.

The IE problem started Friday morning here. I have had to switch to Netscape to access the UDI forum.

I just got the IE8 can't display this page when I tried my first reply to your thread and on my first attempt to access the UDI Forums.

I have also gotten the can't display page error on the CocoonTech forums. So I smell a IE8 or XP update from Microsoft maybe part of the problem.

The intermittent slow pages being displayed. Has been happening to me for awhile now.

Just got a php Critical Error Message.

I'm on cocoon tech frequently and have not had any troubles there. Maybe a slow page here or there, but never any errors.

Here I am getting frequent errors and no-loads. I have seen other errors besides the one I listed earlier, but don't remember exactly what they said. And also some really slow loading pages. But then 10 seconds later I'll have a near instant page load.

The odd thing is the IE page not displayable has gone away. I've gotten to the forum several times in the last hour or so with no problem.

Hello all,

Sincere apologies ... our ISP has been making some improvements which has caused loss of network connectivity to some of our servers. These should be resolved by Tuesday.

Again, sincere apologies.

With kind regards,

Michel

This morning it is taking about 10 seconds for page changes and trying to look at this thread got me this the first attempt.

message_die() was called multiple times. This isn't supposed to happen. Was message_die() used in page_tail.php?

Apologies to all ...

This has become a recurring issue with our ISP: we complain about performance, they fix performance, and then something else goes wrong. We complain about SQL errors, they fix the SQL error for few days then the performance goes down. And the cycle continues.

Currently looking for another ISP which can move our forum without losing data.

With kind regards,

Michel

Thanks from me also. I've tried that with great success. Clearly the SQL errors I am seeing are transient. I had been giving up and coming back later. Now a simple refresh and most of the time things are normal.

From a major problem to a minor nuisance.

Usually this works for me too, but today it just would not go. Had to wait like 15 minutes before it started working again.

Now I got this today when posting;

General Error

Unable to remove files within ./cache/. Please check directory permissions.

Hello everyone,

I do apologize and we are going to being the process of migrating to a different ISP shortly. All of our times are more valuable than sitting an waiting for this forum to decide and behave.

With kind regards,

Michel

Thanks for the update.

I don't think I am completely lost but I am sure I logged in and found the View New Posts.

Yet when I composed an answer it blew me out on a please sign in screen. Of course my message was gone.

Guess I was a bit more lucky. After composing a post and hitting submit, the forum returned an SQL error and blew me out. Message appeared to be lost. But logging out and back in - happily, there was the new new post.

Hello all,

I do apologize for the inconvenience. After some troubleshooting, the problem seems to be our ISP's inability to support hundreds of simultaneous connections. The problem is at its peak when the clients are Chrome based as Chrome makes many unnecessary connections (to improve its own performance) and thus causes the server to choke. Although we have no control over the users of other domains hosted by the same ISP, however may I humbly request our forum users to not use Chrome till we migrate to a new ISP?

Incidentally, if you use Chrome with ISY using HTTPS, it will indeed cause ISY to be busy for at least 5 seconds to an average of 35 seconds trying to calculate keys (depending key strengths). This may in fact give you the impression that ISY is no longer online.

With kind regards,

Michel

That makes sense.

Many of the errors I was seeing. Indicated too many connections and when I looked. Yours had maybe 3-5 users on line.

Completely unusable right now.

One minute or more loads and in the end an error message.

While two minutes later almost instant loads and no errors.
