rtt3821 Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 I cannot access the ISY. The administration Console is blank and I am unable to restore the ISY. The power LED is on and the ISY is plugged into the modem. This all happened abruptly The Insteon items are working per schedule but the X-10 are not. How can I access the ISY and restore it with a backup file?
Michel Kohanim Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Hello rtt3821, Please do NOT restore the backup. I do not think the issue is backup but perhaps ISY's IP address changed. Please try using http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/admin.jnlp on your local network (to ISY) and let us know if you can access your ISY. With kind regards, Michel
rtt3821 Posted September 3, 2011 Author Posted September 3, 2011 Thanks for your fast response MIchel. I tried your suggestion but it didn't work. All I got is a "NOT FOUND" error message.
Michel Kohanim Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Hi rtt3821, Please do be kind enough to look at the status of light on the front of the unit. If only Error or Error/Mem lights are blinking then: 1. Error blinking alone, file system problem. You might want to change your SD Card 2. Error/Mem blinking simulateneously, then ISY cannot get on the network If only power is on, please reboot ISY and look at the sequence of lights and let us know. With kind regards, Michel
rtt3821 Posted September 3, 2011 Author Posted September 3, 2011 I have tried re-booting the ISY by unplugging the power cable. Also tried pressing the reset button. Neither worked. Only the power LED is on. I also tried changing the RJ45 cable to the modem. Nada. After the re-boot the power LED comes on followed by the RX, TX and MEM LEDS. Then only the power LED stays on.
Michel Kohanim Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Hello rtt3821, Thank you. The sequence of lights after reboot is correct and therefore ISY is in fact on line and operating. It's also on the network. Does your ISY have a static IP address and perhaps the network settings (such as router) changed in your environment? If you have a Windows machine and 2.8.16 or above firmware, you can try http://isy or you can try pinging it. With kind regards, Michel
rtt3821 Posted September 4, 2011 Author Posted September 4, 2011 Hello Michel. I don't know how to ping the ISY. I tried to ping using the modem's setup menu but nothing showed. I'm getting 2 error messages when I open the Administrative Console. One is "SOCKET OPEN FAILED JAVA.NET. SOCKET TIMEOUT EXCEPTION". The second one is "XMI. PARSE ERROR http??192.168.1.99/desc". Is there any way to start over from scratch? That may be the easiest.
Michel Kohanim Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Hello rtt3821, I really do not recommend starting from scratch. Two comments: 1. What do you see when you go to http://isy? 2. It's best to schedule a support call so that we can make sure you are back up and running in minimum time instead of having to start from scratch (which does not fix anything in 99.9% of the cases). With kind regards, Michel
rtt3821 Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 Going to http://isy shows "page not found". Any other suggestions? What is the support phone number?
Michel Kohanim Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Hello rtt3821, Thanks. Support phone line is 818-631-0333. With kind regards, Michel
rtt3821 Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 Called support and after a few minutes was able to communicate with the ISY. Thanks to all.
rtt3821 Posted September 15, 2011 Author Posted September 15, 2011 Well the same problem reappeared. I can't get into the administration Console. Tried rebooting no help. HELP! How do I get into the ISY to change the ip address? That was the problem the first time.
Michel Kohanim Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Hello rtt3821, What we need to do is to put your ISY back on DHCP. If you have a good backup, the best thing to do (one of the very few cases), is to factory reset your ISY and then restore your backup. During the restore process, you will be asked whether or not you want to keep your current settings (DHCP/factory default) or those in the backup. You want to choose current settings and ignore the backup. If you are still having issues, please do call our support and we'll help. With kind regards, Michel
rtt3821 Posted September 15, 2011 Author Posted September 15, 2011 Thanks Michel your instruction worked. Thanks again!
