Michel Kohanim Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Hello all, I am happy to announce the availability of our 3.1.8 release! For a list of changes, please take a look at this post. This is a stability/minor release to address issues found in 3.1.7. IMPORTANT 1. Please note that Network Resource modules are now running in their own task. This might have some ramifications as calling network resources from programs no longer waits for the resource to complete. As such, a) you will experience quicker handling of network resources/programs and if you are using DSCLinc and WebLinc, your programs may behave a little differently. Please do test your network resources thoroughly 2. Please note that Safari does not support SSL session reuse and thus might take an exorbitant amount of time to communicate with ISY. As such, when using 2048 bit SSL, it's best not to use Safari. 3. If you are using the Irrigation Module and are upgrading from releases prior to 3.1.5, you must edit the programs using Irrigation variables and save the programs again. Irrigation module is no longer on promotion 4. Upgrading from 3.1.3 and below: If you are using WeatherBug Module's Rain Today in your programs, please note that the precision has changed from 1/10 to 1/100 and thus your programs might not run properly Things to test: - Battery/Batch buttons - If you have an ActionTec router with WeatherBug, please do make sure ISY can get to the outside world and especially to WB Server - Network performance and status - System instability and network issues especially system hang (even though the programs continue to run) - Network resources and programs For a discussion of variables, please look at our Program Variables forum. Notes: 1. ISY-26 is no longer included in the firmware builds 2. Due to the sensitive nature of supporting MorningLinc, users now must agree to terms and conditions upon Admin Console start up otherwise the dialog keeps popping up every time the Admin Console is started 3. IMPORTANT If you have already installed a self signed certificate and your current firmware is 2.7.10 and below, you must reinstall a new one before the upgrade. Instructions: 1. Please backup your ISY (File | Backup ISY). If you are backing up a 3.1.6 system, please note that the backups are corrupted. If you have a backup from prior releases, you should be OK 2. Please download the firmware for your platform - please do not unzip ISY 99i Series OR 994i Series 3. Important (If upgrading from 2.8.5 through 2.8.14) Due to invalid Java certificate chain, please make sure to remove all Universal Devices certificates from Java: a. Close all browser sessions b. Open Java Control Panel (Java Preferences on MAC) c. Click on the Security tab. Remove all Universal Devices certificates (on MAC, click on the '-' button at the bottom) e. Clear your Java Cache 4. Login to the Admin Console and choose Help | Manually Upgrade [the name of your system] 5. Choose the file saved in step 2 MAC users: if upgrade fails, please add https://your.isy.ip.address to ISY Finder (see 3f above) 6. After the upgrade, ISY reboots. Please do ensure to clear your Java Cache 7. IMPORTANT Once upgrade is completed and ISY reboots, use any of the following methods to access your ISY's Admin Console: a. 99/994i - http://isy/admin - applet (Windows only) b. 99/994i - http://isy/admin.jnlp - Java application (Windows only) c. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin - applet d. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin.jnlp - Java application e. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/3.1.8 - applet f. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/3.1.8/admin.jnlp - Java application Dashboard - not fully supported - http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/3. ... board.jnlp 8. Please backup your system again Thanks and with kind regards, Michel Quote
LeeG Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 The 3.1.8 install was good. The Batch and RF Icons are back on Admin Console The Motion Sensor now has the Replace xxxx with option Quote
Brian H Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 When I do a Log Request. I get a Request Failed box and then get the log file. I was using the text type, not Excel. That I can't use due to very old Excel version. Error Log had the same Request Failed Box the first time I tried. Now I get nothing. Not even a Request Failed Box. Maybe the logs are empty from the update? Quote
LeeG Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 I also see error when accessing Log. File is empty under Excel and as .txt file. Tried Clear Log but that did not resolve. Now get "Request Failed" popup and empty Log file. Quote
Brian H Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Tried again for a log. SSL request not authenticated. Another time Subscriber didn't reply to event:1 [34] One time with the Request Failed Box on the screen. I picked text and then canceled the save. The whole GUI locked up and I had to use Task Manager to exit. I did some queries and X10 signals being sent to my chime module. Then did a text log file to my desktop. It is empty. All it shows is this: INSTEON/A10/X10 Device Control Value Time User Log Type Quote
RatRanch Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Also unable to download either system or error log ("Subscriber didn't reply to event: 1 [27]"). I tried both the applet and application, ssl and no ssl. This is on a Mac running OS X Lion. -Jim Quote
C Martin Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Hi Michel, I updated to 3.1.8 and no problems so far. The Auto Update and Battery devices buttons appear. Clarence Quote
automateme Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Same here in Windows 7. When I try to view the Log, I get a "Request Failed" box and no log. This happens whether I choose to view in Excel, or save a TXT file. Quote
Morris Hansen Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I upgraded without issue and I am getting the errors when trying to access the Error Log. Doing this from a Mac right now. Quote
Morris Hansen Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Also tried from a Windows Vista machine. I get the subscriber error as earlier indicated. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 Hello all, With sincere apologies for the log issue. This has been verified as a bug and has already been fixed. We are currently debating on having a minor release to address this issue (firmware only) or wait for more bugs before releasing 3.1.9. Your comments and suggestions are quite welcome. In the meantime, I would sincerely appreciate it if you could test network/system stability and behavior especially when it comes to network resources. Thanks and with kind regards, Michel Quote
polexian Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 We might need an error log to find some other bugs in this isyos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
polexian Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 My ISY keeps losing the current state. I have attached a picture to show you. I have had this problem since 3.1.4. I am currently on 3.1.8. This happens mostly when I reboot the ISY. could this be a firmware issue? Update: Now I can not get the current state to populate. I can turn on and off the devices withing the admin control panel but that is it. I clicked restore devices and nothing opened up. I also clicked query from the main network and nothing happened. If I push query twice I get the error subscriber didn't reply to event: 1 [26] I also clicked restore modem and nothing happened. Quote
Morris Hansen Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I would like to see a release quickly to resolve the error log. Logs would be helpful in finding other potential issues. Maybe do a 3.1.8a release or something. Thanks for your continued support. Quote
TJF1960 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I agree, if it is not too much trouble to release another beta. I had an event that didn't occur in the middle of the night that should have, and has every night for the last 6 months. Trouble is I cannot tell if it was network resource (wclink) related or Insteon comm. related or. Having the logs would have been a help. Thanks very much, Tim Quote
polexian Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 A while back we had a subset release of a version number, an A and B i believe. That didn't go too well and the forum decided to never do that again. Version numbers are plentiful, no need to a and b them. If they do release a fix for the log, I would suggest 3.1.9. Quote
wrj0 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Michel, Network Resource control of an ip camera and an ELK M1G seem to continue to work fine in 3.1.8. Please consider a quick release of 3.1.9 to support Logs - a feature too useful not to have. I tend to check my log every morning. Thanks. Quote
polexian Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I am trying to delete my plm modem from the file menu. It posts a menu of yes or no, I select yes and the modem doesn't get deleted. Also I did a factory reset on my isy and none of my devices were removed. The usernames/password was reset to admin/admin though. After the factory reset everything is working fine until I go to configuration->system and change the html role from admin to read only, save and reboot. Then the current state doesn't show again. Quote
johnnyt Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 How about a 3.1.8.1 release to get the log working. I'm trying to see if the errors being generated with DSCLink in 3.1.7 has been fixed, not to mention if new errors are occurring. Notwithstanding errors I can't see this release seems to be working fine so far. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 Thank you all for your suggestions and comments. 3.1.9 shall be released shortly. polexian, WHY would you want to remove the PLM from your ISY? That would KILL all your scenes and you will NOT receive any status updates from any of the devices. If you are not getting status feedback, in all likelihood, we are dealing with firewall issues. If you have already removed the PLM, you will HAVE TO restore your backup and then restore modem (PLM) for everything to work again. With kind regards, Michel Quote
polexian Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I was removing the PLM in order to try and fix my ISY current state. My IP address is static. I have removed symantic anti-virus and turned off the windows firewall and still receiving the same error. I'm guessing since no one else is complaining then it's not a firmware issue. I have contacted support so hopefully they can shed some light on the subject. Joe Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 Hi polexian/Joe, I wished you had talked to us ... removing PLM does precisely the opposite of what you were trying to fix (you will not get any status updates from devices). Were you able to restore your backup and then restore PLM? With kind regards, Michel Quote

I downgraded to 2.8.16 and everything is working great now. Sent you a PM. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted September 22, 2011 Author Posted September 22, 2011 Hi Joe, Thanks for the update. I am a little confused, the only way to remove the PLM is through File | Remove Modem (PLM). Are we talking about the same thing? Or, did you have the HouseLinc PLM (or some other PLM) linked to ISY? As far as statuses disappearing, you mention HTML. Are we talking about our HTML page OR are we talking about the Admin Console? With kind regards, Michel Quote
