mb323 Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Not sure when it happened, but in the past month my https access stopped working. I was running 2.8.16. Nothing was changed for the past few months when I noticed my remote access stopped working. I can still get to http, but even on the local network https no longer works. When trying to go to https, on Safari the connection resets, on IE 9 I get connect display the web page. I have verified my configuration, and even upgraded to 3.1.9 as a last ditch effort to get it running again. I have tried other ports, other computers for remote access and devices with the same result. I have tried regenerating the self signed cert but that just hangs. Any suggestions?
oberkc Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I have mostly given up expectations of a consistent web experience. When I enable web access, it works for a while, then not. My working theory is that power interruptions cause web access to go down. So far, going to the admin console, disabling web access, then enabling it again seems to work when this happens.
Michel Kohanim Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Hello mb323, If you cannot use https locally either, then the problem is that you need to reinstall an SSL Certificate (Help | Request/Manage SSL Certificates). With kind regards, Michel
mb323 Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 Hi Michel, Thought that might be the reason, however I tried to re-create a self signed cert and the security app just hangs. Any ideas there? Thanks, Mark
mb323 Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 I have tried Windows and MAC both with updated Java, the SSL Certificate Management Utility does nothing, it won't generate a self signed cert, it won't generate a CA request.
Michel Kohanim Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Hello mb323, That's quite odd. The only thing I can think of is that Java is using old certificates. Would it be possible to copy/paste the output in Java Console? If not, please try removing all the certificates in Java Preferences | Security and retry. Please do make sure that you ACCEPT when you are asked whether or not you want to trust Bouncy Castle and Universal Devices. With kind regards, Michel
mb323 Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 Not sure what you mean by copy/paste output from Java Console. I removed all certificates in Java Preferences, cleared the Java Cache. I accepted the Universal Devices but didn't get prompted for Bouncy Castle. Same result, SSL Certificate Management Console just sits there with a blue beach ball. I'm not sure if it has even found or communicating with the ISY, I don't get prompted for credentials. I have tried the same steps from both a Mac and Windows 7 with the same results.
Michel Kohanim Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Hello mb323, You have to be local to ISY for this application to work otherwise it will defeat the security purpose. Are you local to your ISY? With kind regards, Michel
mb323 Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 Hello mb323, You have to be local to ISY for this application to work otherwise it will defeat the security purpose. Are you local to your ISY? With kind regards, Michel Yes, I am on the same subnet as my Isy.
mb323 Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 Got it working, double checked my Windows VM running in parallels and it was using a shared network with the Mac, so I assigned it to the default network adapter and was able to generate a cert. Still cannot generate a cert from my Mac even though they are on the same subnet. But I am up and running again. Also enabling internet access menu option didn't work but I already had a port forwarding rule that I manually added. Thanks for the help, not sure why the Mac doesn't work.
Michel Kohanim Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Hello mb323, File | Enable Internet Access is mutually exclusive to doing a manual port forward. This means that if you have already one a manually port forwarding, then in all likelihood File | Enable Internet Access will fail. The MAC issue is quite peculiar ... we will have to do some root cause analysis to figure out why it does not work. With kind regards, Michel
